PSN Still Down In Japan, Sony Says Sorry

Whilst the PlayStation Network is up and running across the rest of the world, the system’s native owners still can’t access online play or the shop.

Sony today issued their first statement on the issue for two weeks, saying that more time is needed to “make adjustments with the various related parties” but didn’t give a timescale on when this will all be resolved.

You have to wonder what the issues are, given that the service is up and running around the majority of the planet.

  2. The reports were that the Japanese authorities still aren’t happy with Sony’s updated security & will only allow them to push the button once they’ve satisfied their criteria for data protection.

    Not sure if this is something we should be worried about, but I presume their have been further hacking attempts & its held up well

    • either they are very very strict, or the rest of the world are a little more relaxed? Does make you wonder though

    • I’ve read that it’s the Japanese credit card companies ‘encouraging’ the government to keep pushing Sony for more security measures and guarantees.

      The reason being that there is no fraud protection insurance kind of deal available in Japan, so the credit card companies themselves would end up directly liable to cover any losses.

    • and have you been visiting Japanese sites to confirm this or is there any bases to this?
      I can’t see the Japanese people just accepting this and not moaning about it.

    • Yeah, one of my Japanese friends has been online with his EU account. What gives?

      • yeahh but the Japanese PSN is down… they can still get online with thier EU acc. cuz the EU PSN is up…
