People expecting the Uncharted 3 beta to be a glorified promotional demo were probably left a little disappointed yesterday, as it launched with more than its fair share of issues.
Thanks to Sony’s Welcome Back PlayStation Plus offer, the beta was open to everyone and this showed with the matchmaking struggling to cope for the first few hours after going live. Players lucky enough to clear that hurdle intermittently found themselves being kicked from games.
Not the most serious of problems and no doubt attributed to the presumably huge interest in the title.
More worryingly were the reports of dodgy framerates, freezing issues and even system crashes. Naughty Dog were quick to react saying:
“RE: framerate + system freezes: we’re looking into this right now it’s not consistent or everyone so it’s taking a bit of time to track down.”
It seems they have tracked it down as a patch has now been released.
Weighing in at 18MB, it will automatically download the next time you boot up the beta. So far patch notes haven’t been released as Naughty Dog were working way into the night to try and get the issues sorted, but we’ll update this article as soon as we hear what’s been fixed.
Origami Killer
The beta has played perfectly for me, still some slight changes from UC2 which i hate, for example that little white dot that acts as a cross hair is annoying and pointless
Foxhound
Cant wait or it, but I am doing, will download later…..long live uncharted!
Gforce
Anyone else find the melee combat very hit and miss… why do you bounce off the player when you hit them, and inconsitances in terms of damage, you can pretty much empty a clip into a guys head and he’ll still just smile, before shooting you in the leg with a pistol and you die… same with melee, you can hit a guy, do the bounce away thing, but your both fine, he’ll hit you and you die… if one hit can kill then why didnt he die… its all very hit and miss… I’ve also been on the recieving end of this by the way, where Ive been riddled with lead just to kill a guy with one shot!
I dont mind it making you work, but nothing more frustrating than imbalance and kills that are more down to randomness it seem than actual placements of shots and weapon being used…
If the full games multiplayer is like this then thank christ it will have an awesome single player mode!
