Massive Poll: BF3 Vs MW3 – The Results

Let’s start with the good news for Activision and EA; Only 3.66% of voters said they would keeping their wallets firmly in the their pockets and would not be purchasing either game, that means a whopping 96.34% of TSA voters would be purchasing at least one of the title we asked you about on Friday.

Of these voters, an impressive 21.59%  are planning to buy both games and spend every waking moment shooting millions of digital soldiers, all of which seem to be a ten year old American kid who swears like a trucker.

Now we come to the two important statistics, how many of you are buying Battlefield 3 and how many will stay loyal to the Call Of Duty franchise?

Before I reveal the final result, a quick word about the voting. Within ten minutes of the poll opening, the percentage of vote was split as below. During the entire voting period the percentages did not move more than plus or minus three percent from the final result.  There were no wild swings towards either game which would indicate someone was trying to influence the poll, the votes were uniformly cast.

With 1,802 votes cast, the results show that 66.59% of voters will  be purchasing Battlefield 3 and 8.16% will buy Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3

That is not a typo, the results really are  66% vs 8%, Battlefield 3 has crushed Call Of Duty. That’s a huge surprise and it will be very interesting to see how it plays out in November when the two titles really do go head to head for sales.

  1. I’m not buying either of the two, I never thought why to buy another installment of a game that releases every year. It’s not my game to waste money on every year, hence why I’ve never played COD.

    • Battlefield doesn’t have yearly installments, but it does have the odd spin off every now & again (are they often enough to make it a yearly title? not sure tbh).

      • EA have said they’ll be alternating Battfield with Battlefield Bad Company, then there’s also the other spin-off titles like 1943 etc. Also, separately to Bf but also with EA is the Medal Of Honor series to shoehorn in.

  2. I think the majority of informed players, military enthusiasts, and older gamers will side with BF3, as it appears and IMO is the more mature (as in realism) experience, but theres 20 million gamers out there with parents that go What is it I buy every Nov, oh yea that CoD game that makes my kid say I’m the greatest parent ever. MW3 will sell just because it carries the CoD title, if you renamed it ‘Homefront MW3’, it would not get within 5 million sales of BF3. I wish you would have asked if you planned on buying MW3 used, as that’s my plan, BF3 new and kept, MW3 used then traded back in for Bio Shock

  3. Fascinating. Intriguing seeing I’m in the minority camp too …

  4. I cant wait for Battlefield 3 and just hope it plays similar to Battlefield 2 rather than the Bad Company games. All the lads at work however I buying COD so if I want to play with friends online I’ll end up buying both, hopefully Tesco/Morrisons/Asda will go on the price war front.

  5. I’m one of the “yes please, I’ll have one of each” people. But I’m probably not buying either until next year as I’ll be busy killing dragons in Skyrim troughout the end of the year. :-P

  6. I will get Battlefield on day 1 but if MW3 is heavily discounted by the supermarkets as it usually is then I’ll snap one up.

  7. Wow, I’m actually shocked even though I’ll be buying both

  8. I’m glad the more educated, mature (in terms of gaming, at least) are going the way of Battlefield. Though MW3 will likely still outsell it, I feel BF3 will be the superior game.

  9. That’s what activision gets for being greedy and cocky. I was once a loyal cod fan since cod1 but its all about money and no sense now. Shame on them, hopefully it’ll make them realise what they have done.

  10. I got Battlefield 3 pre-ordered the other day for £16 can you believe that?! It was some crazy deal where you had to get this and Dark Souls and £16 and a jumper for £14, so a fantastic deal, so I’m just hoping they honour it!
