Massive Poll: BF3 Vs MW3 – The Results

Let’s start with the good news for Activision and EA; Only 3.66% of voters said they would keeping their wallets firmly in the their pockets and would not be purchasing either game, that means a whopping 96.34% of TSA voters would be purchasing at least one of the title we asked you about on Friday.

Of these voters, an impressive 21.59%  are planning to buy both games and spend every waking moment shooting millions of digital soldiers, all of which seem to be a ten year old American kid who swears like a trucker.

Now we come to the two important statistics, how many of you are buying Battlefield 3 and how many will stay loyal to the Call Of Duty franchise?

Before I reveal the final result, a quick word about the voting. Within ten minutes of the poll opening, the percentage of vote was split as below. During the entire voting period the percentages did not move more than plus or minus three percent from the final result.  There were no wild swings towards either game which would indicate someone was trying to influence the poll, the votes were uniformly cast.

With 1,802 votes cast, the results show that 66.59% of voters will  be purchasing Battlefield 3 and 8.16% will buy Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3

That is not a typo, the results really are  66% vs 8%, Battlefield 3 has crushed Call Of Duty. That’s a huge surprise and it will be very interesting to see how it plays out in November when the two titles really do go head to head for sales.

  1. Does the voting result indicate the calibre, knowledge and quality of TSA voters? I think it does :)
Then again, i’ve just tried the demo of Homefront MP, oh dear!

    • Yes. And no, oh no, why’d you go and do a thing like that?

    • The multi was the only part I liked of that game ;) If you ignore the awful visuals there is actually quite a deep multiplayer experience to be found there (well, enough to encourage me to get the top-rank trophy) :)

  2. Was it a huge surprise? Or was it plainly obvious that everyone would go for BF3?

I’m getting both. Both will be amazingly sick.

  3. i’ll be buying both, but will probably end up playing bf3 more than mw3

  4. Activision can swivel, hello EA my friend.

btw, I missed this poll but would of voted for BF3 only

  5. That’s some very interesting numbers, surprising.
    I’m one of 3.66% though.

    • Me too. Nice to see I’m in good company. :)

  6. This shows that we TSAers are a discerning lot: smarter players pick smarter games. If you posted this poll in the official sony forums I bet you’d see a wildly different story.

  7. Results aren’t really surprising as i don’t think many greetin’ faced kids visit TSA :D
Battlefield 3 for me also, though i’ll probably rent MW3 from Boomerang.

  8. one of the questions in the reader survey with this months OPM is – ‘If you could only buy one of these games which would you buy, Battlefield 3 or COD MW3’

  9. Even though I voted bf3, I still think mw3 will out sell it hugely, I’ve seen pre-order signs in the main entrances of my local sainsburys, tesco & asda supermarkets now, nothing for bf3?
Still if it keeps the screaming kids off bf3 then I’m happy ;)

  10. Interesting, although I wasn’t really surprised, most users on TSA are anti-COD, so I knew BF would win, but not by that much. MW3 will still smash sales records though, BF3 probably won’t come near. There are loads of people I know that only buy 2 games a year; COD and Fifa. That’s not going to change.

    • I agree, COD isn’t a bad game although I probably prefer Battlefield. The issue is buying it over and over again when it is mostly the same thing again. Too many people buy games like Fifa and COD simply because they are large games and lots of other people buy them.
