Resident Evil 6 Reveal Coming Mid September?

I can take or leave Resident Evil.  The first two or three were brilliant, but I’ve never really gotten into the last couple for a whole number of reasons – but rumours of a ‘reboot’ for the sixth main game in the series have piqued my interest.

Anyway, it looks like Resident Evil 6 will be properly announced on the 15th of September, if this story holds any weight.

That’s a shot from a behind closed doors Capcom conference at Comic-con, which seems to be less about comics more and more each year. Thankfully we’re now getting some nice gaming news out of it, which is obviously better than comics. Right?

So, there’s your logo, and a date: September 15, 2011. Mark your diaries.

  1. I remember reading how ComicCon decided to morph into what is essentially Geekathon but wanted to keep the brand name going.

As for R6, a return to horror would be cool. We have enough shooters and Silent Hill has been a bit off of late.

  2. I’m thinking that we might get a teaser trailer in game in RE4?
Think of the Sly 4 teaser in The Sly Collection…

  3. Can’t stress enough how much I don’t want a return to the old play-style and controls. Classics are classics because they are of their own time. Hope the franchise keeps moving forwards

    • erm…was 5 really moving forward? If so how come you couldn’t shoot and…well move forward ;)

      • Hey! 5 was a move forwards – not everything was brown like in 4

      • A shame my pants weren’t brown in 5, which I thought was the point of horror games…but then Res Evil is really moving away from this…a great shame :(

  4. For me, Resident Evil 6 is make or break for the RE series. RE 5 was a bit mellow compared to Dead Space and RE4.
Capcom are up against tough competition in the form of Dead Space. A reboot is welcomed, if it has more horror, thats done well.

  5. My brother is a big Resi fan and still plays the classic fixed camera games on his Gamecube. I’m sure he would love to hear that it is going back to the genre that made the series.

  6. More horror please.

  7. Fixed Camera please.

  8. Number 4 was BRILLIANT! :P 5 was ok but it had crap Xbox 360’ish graphics :-/

    • In the same way Resident Evil 4 had crap Nintendo’ish graphics? You really do talk some crap on here.

      • Bit harsh mate he’s only expressing his opinion.

      • A fanboy opinion though.

Uncharted has crap PS3 graphics though.

      • PeacekeeperAlpha – I would agree with you in an instant but his remarks are inflammatory and highly antagonistic with almost every post. It’s becoming tiresome at best.

      • agree with Mike.

      • I’m with mike on this one.

    • *facepalm*

      You didn’t have to. >.>

  9. I hope the Honey Monster makes a comeback in this one.

  10. I hope this reboot won’t be a middle finger like another certain game that i still haven’t forgiven Capcom for. I swear if it is all action, no horror and has a cliche filled plot. RE will be dead to me and i will kick it out. I want to be scared Capcom. Up the horror to 100%, introduce new characters and have the plot filled with some twists.(not MGS amount of twists.;)) I hope it either returns to the Raccoon City incident and takes place during it or a new outbreak in a new city set a few years after the events of 5. They can make it work if they desire to. And improve the AI this time around as i hated Sheva using all of my spare ammo leaving me to punch the infected and get killed by the chainsaw person.>:(

They should rename Comic-Con as i haven’t heard many comic related news.

    • >_> Raccoon City blew up. Numerous times lol. There’s no reason for them to return to that area unless it’s pre-explosion, much like Operation Raccoon City.

As for the plot. It has always been pretty stupid in each RE game. It was only made amusing by the voice acting. RE5’s was prolly the most coherent. Much better voice overs too.

      • But it was toss. Release Resident Evil 2: beta 1!
