Avatar Kinect Released In Kinect Fun Labs

After announcing Avatar Kinect in January, Microsoft has now released the virtual chatroom for everyone to enjoy.

If you want a reminder on what the software does, and you’ve not run for the hills after mentioning Kinect, here is what the service offers in Microsoft’s own words:

“Express yourself with your Xbox avatar. See your facial expressions and gestures on your Xbox avatar as you chat with friends in our 3D stages and produce your own TV shows.”

This has some similarities to Sony’s PlayStation Home, but in a much smaller scale. You can also upload your “TV shows” to KinectShare.com, and then share your creativity via YouTube and numerous social networks.

From September 8th the service will require an Xbox LIVE Gold membership, but until then anyone can do a 658.59 MB download of the service from Kinect Fun Labs and try it out.

If you do, we’d love to hear your thoughts!
