Before the game’s launch in September, Dead Island will be paying a visit to Sony’s online social hub, PlayStation Home. The Home Square is due for a makeover, emulating the bountiful Banoi resort featured in Techland’s much-anticipated zombie survival FPS. Here users can chill and hang-out or gather in groups of up to four players to tackle a variety of mini-games ” in which players must prove their skills in crafting items and pit their abilities against attacks from a rampaging zombie horde.”
Completing these challenges, which will be updated throughout the event period, will unlock exclusive in-game items for Dead Island including a weapon and costume. It certainly looks like an impressive promotion, and hopefully the mini-games won’t be as stiff or as over-crowded as previous launch events.

I’ll admit Zombie games have been done countless times in the past, but this looks like its going to be a cracking game.

To be honest getting excited for a Techland game could lead to a disaster… I doubt it’ll be as good as Left 4 Dead. Its just previous games hadn’t been well… great or even outstanding.
I just hope they do everything 80% right with this, I’d hate to buy a poor game.
