PlayStation Vita Release Date Leaked?

According to a promotional flier issued by rental giant Blockbuster, gamers could have their hands on Sony’s eagerly-awaited next generation portable console this autumn. Both the wi-fi and 3G models (respectively priced at £229.99 and £279.99) are set to launch on October 28th.

Sony has been quick to address the listing with the usual dose of ambiguity, stating that the PlayStation Vita is billed for a “phased global release,” offering very little insight as to whether the PSP successor will actually be available this holiday season.

Don’t forget that earlier this week a press release from 505 Games for its upcoming sports title, Supremacy MMA, also mentioned that the Vita will be launching before the end of the year.

  1. There goes another £300 on my already ridiculously large list of September to November releases! So that’s roughly 18 games and now vista….. My bank balance is gonna get majorly attacked,

    • Mine too, but cannot wait man…..

    • I’ve had £300 set aside for this for quite a while, so it won’t be such an impact for me. However, it does mean I will probably have to rent a couple of games I had originally intended to purchase.

      • Just prey to god there ain’t too many day 1 releases for the vita either! although I could just try and be sensible and not buy everything on release day but thats easier said than done,

      • Like the 3DS, as soon as it was announced I immediately put £200 aside. If you do it early enough while cash is easy in a quiet period, you really don’t miss it when the machine gets released.

  2. Great “news” – my birthday’s the 27th, AND I’m off to the USA on holiday on October 29th!

    Hopefully this will turn out to be true.

    • Perfect timing to rinse the vita up on a 8-12 hr flight!

    • Just saying dave, your on the same day as me ;) But I will not be picking up Vita until it is under £200 :/

  3. Now do I trade my PSP-3000 in now while it’s got some value or wait and trade it agaist a Vita…… decisions, decisions????

    • Has the PSP-3000 got any value to it!? Might be worth slinging mine as I never really use it,

      • ive got my unused psp and a dozen games and unused wii with a few games and steering wheels which i really should sell, but i know ill get pennies for them

  4. I think i will wait to see how well/poor the Vita performs as Mobile gaming has already taken over half of the market and i think caused the 3DS to perform a bit poorly. I hope Sony have learnt from the PSPgo and will do everything to support the vita as i don’t want to get a console where no developer will touch it with a 12ft barge pool. That is a bit risky as there are so many games being released in November and most people will be saving up to get all of the big ones.

    • Have you seen what sort of games are in the line up mate!? The 3DS has flopped due to a lack of quality games, where as the Vita has got a genuine good line up! And the tech looks alot better than the gimmicky 3D.

      Isn’t there ment to be a call of duty coming out on the vita aswell….. If this is true, and it’s online……this will sell millions of units of vitas just for that 1 game!

      • But that’s not entirely true, it launched without a Mario game, but the games themselves are pretty good.

        Street Fighter was as good as the PS3 version, Ridge Racer was Solid, Ghost Recon was surprisingly very good. These are 3 pretty big franchises in addition to the first party support with the amazing Pilot Wings.

        Within 3 months we had DOA which is probably the best one they’ve made, Resi Mercenaries which Is very addictive and Ocarina of Time, which actually improves one of the greatest games ever made.

        For me, it was priced too high to start either, but at £150 it will fly off the shelves at Christmas along with the Mario games.

    • The 3DS hasn’t really been great…. the lineups just so poor and well with the Vita I’d have around 30 PSP games to download if I wanted to >.>

      It’ll go well with the core but casuals?.. I’m not so sure.

  5. I hope this does better than the 3DS… I think it needs to, for Sony’s sake.

    It is possible though, personally I’m much more tempted by the Vita.

  6. Hit the UK Gamestop site, they are doing the PS Vita 3G version for £244.97 or WiFi for £209.97. Pre ordered one this morning. Lovely…

    • Have they taken the money for it now?

      • They would of done, thats what Gamestop does (well the UK one does. Its even in their FAQ). Bad business as far as I’m concerned.

      • Would risk is company goes bust and you loose you’re cash!

        He’s probably safe ordering from them.

      • If there that big then why feel the need to take the money straight away!?

        Shopto don’t and there about as small as gaming shops online can get!

  10. As much I would love for this to be true, I still think EU are getting Vita in early 2012.

    • I would say early 2012 at the earliest.

      • If it could be done a pre Xmas release would be good! Unless there looking at it as release early 2012 with a price reduction for Xmas 2012
