THQ Reveals WWE ’12 Roster, Features Over 60 Superstars

THQ unveiled over 60 Superstars for WWE ’12 this past Summerslam weekend. The roster covers both RAW and Smackdown and even includes some Legends. There’s a disturbing lack of Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart right now but there are still 14 characters that haven’t been revealed yet. There’s no way they won’t be the game in some capacity.

A Collector’s Edition was also announced at the event. THQ is letting fans decide which version they want on Facebook. You can choose either the “People’s Edition”, featuring The Rock or the “Champ’s Edition” with John Cena on the cover. The Rock is currently dominating the polls, thankfully.

  1. I am sure that there are a ‘wealth of new features’, but to me, these games have looked the almost exactly the same for the past few years! Probably moreso that the likes of fifa even!

    • The Smackdown vs. Raw series has been in a downward spiral for so many years now, but this game is actually going in a different direction. That’s actually why they changed the name to WWE ’12. They rebranded the franchise and it’s actually looking quite good. I played a really early version of it a few months ago. It’s shaping up well. They fixed the controls and that was one of the biggest issues the series had since 2008.

      • Each to their own, but I find the SDvsR series improves with each release (and this is coming from someone who loved Smackdown2!) :) Adding Universe mode is 2011 was an awesome extra

      • *in 2011

      • Agreed – I have a friend that plays these pretty religiously & Universe seemed like the thing that should have been in the game from day one, as it sounds great.

What i meant was everyone i see seems to look almost exactly the same as the last incarnation & i have trouble distinguishing which game he is playing sometimes! :S

  2. Nice to see them up to date with Cult of Personality as Punks music. Fantastic song. Pretty good roster aswell and hopefully the gameplay has improved. I’m assuming that there will be more than just Jerry Lawler as DLC as well.

  3. Good to see the road warriors & demolition in there too ;)

  4. Great roster this year. That said I would have been happy with whatever as long as CM Punk, Morrison, Miz, Evan Bourne and Eve were present so… ;)

  5. “You can choose either the “People’s Edition”, featuring The Rock or the “Champ’s Edition” with John Cena on the cover.” Ouch. Cena’s pride is going to be hurt.

I used to love these on PS1 and PS2 but I feel like they’ve been going backwards a bit. I’m interested in this new one though and hopefully it’ll get a demo.

Good looking roster so far but no Ultimate Warrior yet. No Warrior, no sale. ;)

  6. Lol the wrestlers still seem to be walking on ice.

I probably will end up buying this though, but not day one.

  7. CM Punk is getting booed during his entrance, how unrealistic!

    • Thats my problem with WWE games. You never get a mixed reaction choice from the crowd as CM Punk is probably the guy to get if you want to separate the fans at the moment.
