3D may have lost some momentum in cinemas, but for gamers it’s still fairly new, and with dozens of 2011 blockbuster titles enabling 3D support, some of us have been forking out for extravagant television sets. Others, like myself, have tried to find a way around the huge 3D entry fees, and thankfully Rocksteady’s Batman: Arkham Asylum will allow such heavy-cost evasion.
Though the game will feature regular 3D functionality for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC (via Nividia 3D Technology,) there will also be an option to select “Anaglyphic” 3D instead. Taking a leap back from the technical prowess of current 3D technology and shutter glasses, this form of 3D allows more financial-conscious gamers such as myself to crack out the red/cyan glasses to get their fix.
Warner Bros. as well as several over game publishers have adopted “TriOviz Inficolor 3D,” in the past, both Captain Ameirca: Super Soldier and Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters being compatible. Official TriOviz glasses are available to purchase, though after a little research there is still no way of telling whether they offer a substantially better level of quality when compared to your bog standard coloured specs.

I care very little for 3D. I have yet to watch a film in 3D and have no desire to play games in it either. But hey, each to their own. Some people will enjoy the experience of Batman in 3D. Did anyone try the re-release of Arkham Asylum when that came out in 3d? Would be interested to hear your oppinions.

Play motorstorm or watch avatar. It literally takes gaming n film to the next level. I thought I was a fad till I played motorstorm in 3d with surround sound. Mind. Blown.

You could at least try it Mikey!

Not wanting to rain on the parade, as I too would like a cheaper alternative to 3D viewing, but won’t these effect how colours are perceived, like the original paper 3d glasses.

I remember the first 3D movie on tv, a black & white cowboy movie. Glasses were free in the sun & two pairs of glasses gradually made their way around the living room lol.
Dlaf42
yeah i remember that also jaws 3D man how technology has moved on…lol

I was thinking the same. Would be interesting to test and if it works then maybe more devs should think about including it. So long as the effort required isn’t too great as to detract from the game itself.

For some reason I am not interested or bothered about 3D. Just can’t get excited about it.
Forrest_01
I am the same – Nothing but a gimmick to me if i am honest. & one that i don’t care for (especially when development time gets elongated just to shoehorn it in!).

So basically the 3D mode from the Arkham Asylum Game of the Year edition, then?
Dlaf42
yeah it’s the same…come to think of it enslaved had this too.

3D isnt even 3D just adds a layer of depth

The 3D in Arkham Asylum was basically unnoticeable when enabled. You could see a difference on Batman, but only fractionally, like cardboard with a small cardboard Batman stuck on it.

Meh…HD is good enough for me. 3D is a nice novelty, but I can’t help but feel, that it will wear off after a few weeks.

until 3d without specs arrives (its on its way) it will never be anything but a niche market and with 3dtv prices dropping massively and no new 3dtv models in the pipeline then its not looking good for the early addopters. but i could be wrong and the lower prices could kickstart the marrket.
gaffers101
Rather play it on a good HD TV than 3D for now.

I want to see what true1080p gaming looks like(ps4?) I may try to get some hands on 3D gaming. My local Sony tv store has a closed off room, with a ps3 ready to go & the rep said he would hook it up to any tv I was interested in. I would also like to give these glasses a go, if i get the opportunity.
