Qriocity Services Realigned Under Sony Entertainment Network

It’s all change in the Qriocity camp today, with Kaz Hirai announcing a few changes. As part of the change, Qriocity services will be realigned under Sony Entertainment Network.

“As a consequence, Video on Demand powered by Qriocity will now be called Video Unlimited, and Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity will become Music Unlimited.

These services will add more content and branch out into new markets, starting with the expansion of Music Unlimited into Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, The Netherlands and Belgium by the end of 2011.”

There’s also a swish new logo.

  1. Thank heavens now we won’t have many versions of Qriocity in real-time speech.

    Great news

  2. Within the next 12 months I’m expecting some sort of Playstation store announcement, probably regarding PS+ – “Play Unlimited”

  3. Aren’t name changes the best?

No, no. No, no. There’s no limit.

  4. Looks like the kind of design approach Microsoft would take to promos and logo design, but it’s that little bit better. The name works well with their services now, hooray for consistency!

  5. Yes finally we in Sweden get a new service!!!!!!!!!!

  6. I got an email from Sony offering a 180 day free trial so i signed up but i couldn’t get any track to play for more than 10 or 15 seconds. I assume i must have done something wrong or searched for the wrong tracks maybe? :(

    • 180 day trial is only for basic package, which doesnt include choosing the songs you want to hear. You can only choose the pre-determined channels and playlists

      • I tried picking from the provided choices as well as searching.. I’ll give it another go and see if i missed something, thanks.

      • Tried again, some songs will play but next song just plays for 10 seconds. Oh well, free trial and all that..
I’m looking into streaming radio on ps3 now instead, found a couple that (still) work .. musicovery let’s you choose an artist and it creates a playlist based on similar music, icebergradio has a selection of channels. and also theres finetune Wii player which works great in ps3 browser.

Lol so we went from getting the video store LAST year to now getting only another music service this by the end of 2011. Sorry Sony, but I couldn’t care less about Music Unlimited, tired of your broken promises.
