New F1 2011 Screens Look Almost Real

I’ve just flicked through these images before posting them. Every gamer who’s been enjoying the hobby for an extended period of time will be familiar with my reaction: I’ve had to do a bit of a double take and then move my face closer to my laptop screen and squint at these images to make sure Codemasters aren’t sending photos from Spa last weekend and preparing to have a giggle at my expense.

Of course, I’m old enough and jaded enough to remember a similar reaction when I saw the first screenshots of Gran Turismo on the PlayStation. So, I know that the realism on show in these photos screenshots will most likely be improved upon even more in the coming years. But for now, they’re close enough to make me look twice.

We’ll be back soon with some proper impressions of how the game actually plays but in the meantime, enjoy these screens.

They’re pretty incredible.

  1. I must be defective cause none of the pictures look even close to real. The tyres are too shiny, the shadows and reflections are pixelated and everything just looks not real kinda way.

    • Yeah, I guess it must be you. When a light source shines on a wet rubbery surface, reflections occur.

I’m sure you will notice the “pixelated” reflection when driving 300 km/h around a F1 track. GT5 must have really bothered you with all the standard cars and pixelated smoke effects. :P

    • In a way I agree, to me to looks slightly real…

  2. Not long to go now.

  3. Those screens look jaw dropping. Putting money aside for this. Can’t wait for the TSA meets for this. 2010 was such a blast.

  4. Only just got around to buying 2010, just over half way through my first season. These screens do look great, however not ready for F1 2011 at the moment.

  5. This and safety car sounds really interesting..

  6. Still need the last one, these look imperial, wow…

  7. Looks very good!

  8. Oooooh! White wee wee! *sorry got carried away*

  9. The screens look good but 2010 is still an amazing game so I’m not too sure if I’ll be getting this.
