The 3DS Circle Pad attachment, unveiled to a bit of an uproar, has been priced and dated for Japan. It will cost 1500 Yen (£12.30) and be out on December 10th.
A list of compatible games has also been released: Resident Evil: Revelations, Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater 3D, Ace Combat 3D Cross Rumble, Dynasty Warriors Vs and Kingdom Hearts 3D.
Having played the Resident Evil demo I’m actually quite relieved. Playing the game with the one Circle Pad felt very clunky.

See? That’s precisely what I thought would happen.
Is it too early to swear?

Has there been an actual picture released of the ‘add on’ yet?

It’s disgusting.
Crocadillian
It says it requires a battery to operate, it’s even less desirable now.
Jaffa-the-Cake
It’s the worst designed official peripheral I think i’ve ever seen. Nintendo have completely lost the plot. Why make it only use a AAA when you could add a Li ion battery to help the 3DS with battery life. Poor, very poor.
bunimomike
I’m with nofi on this one. It really is the ginger step-child of the peripheral world.

Absolutely disgusting. Big mistake Nintendo.
skibadee
very strange there trying to compete with Vita with this?
bacon_nuts
It’s just hilariously awful.
Smallville2106
I don’t know what I was expecting but that is awful.
shields_t
I really never expected it to be official Nintendo kit when i saw the announcement on here the other day.
Delriach
Dan, you referring to the horrible demo included in Mercs? It’s so bad compared to the more recent demo. You can actually customize the controls so that it doesn’t suck lol.
Dan Lee
That’s good to hear.
DirtyHabit
Has some at TSA slipped a Nintendo employee a truth syrum this morning? 9 3DS articles in one morning !? ;)
Dan Lee
It’s the Nintendo conference at TGS.

Can’t really see myself buying any 3DS games until MH4 comes out, at which time this peripheral will hopefully be dirt cheap.
tonyyeb
The only thing going for the peripheral is the price. Less than £15?
Jaffa-the-Cake
The problem with it is that, given its huge size, it uses only 1 AAA battery. I would of hoped Nintendo wouldve added an Li ion in there to help with the 3DS’ shocking battery life. But i guess thats Nintendo, arrogant and stubborn.
matthangzhou
Which would of bumped the price up…

Although I am equally annoyed by this development I am looking forward to Kingdom Hearts a lot
The Lone Steven
It’s a cheap ugly thing. I hadn’t thought about MGS3 on 3DS. It uses AAA batteries!?
Just let it use the 3DS’s power as that last thing anyone wants is to go to play a game that requries both sticks only for the batteries to die thus running around looking for a new pair before giving in and buying some.
I imagine the right stick will be used the same way in MGS Snake Eater as the console version.

So when is the inevitable and eventual redesign going to happen?
DrNate86
That’s what I’m waiting for. The 3DS Lite with dual analogue sticks, then I could actually be quite happily persuaded to buy one.

while i have to admit that i’m not impressed by this add on, it will make the games listed much more playable. As for the compatability issues, surely they can make the game playable with or without this extra add on. Sony do it with the some of the move games…heavy rain and eyepet being two examples.
