Beat Hazard Ultra Coming to PSN Soon

Cold Beam Games have revealed, on the Beat Hazard Ultra Facebook page, that their acclaimed game is coming to PSN next month.

You can get your hands on it on the 19th of October, in Europe and one day before, on the 18th, in North America. It will set you back €6.50 or $9.99.

If you’ve no idea why you should be excited for this game, then you’ll be pleased to find out that Beat Hazard is a twin stick shooter with a twist: the gameplay is controlled by the music you choose and it will work with any song in your library. Ultra is the fullest version of the game yet – featuring many new enemies, bosses, power ups, multiplayer and a perk system – the game has came a long way from its XBL Indie Game roots.

If you’re still not convinced, we gave it a glowing recommendation with our review of the PC version. Don’t miss this, it’s really something special.

And here’s a trailer below to give you a taster:

  1. I think I have this on steam, it’s not bad from what I remember. Pretty but a bit confusing.

  2. Great, the pc review sounded good so I’ll probably grab it from psn. It’ll be interesting to see how it reacts to different types of music.

  3. Tried it with a 19min track and a few Rhapsody songs on the trail which was quite cool yet very challenging. Anyway I’ve vowed to get Chantise on Steam and I guess I buy Beat Hazard there to, not sure if I’ll get the PSN version but it will be interesting.

  4. I don’t actually have any music on my PS3, I did, but it was never used so I just deleted it. Wouldn’t that make this game utterly useless for me then? And it looks great if it’s a rave as in the video, but what about someone who only listens to acoustic music? Looks a bit flashy and eye pain inducing for me anyways, couldn’t quite see what was going on.

    • i dont think you would buy this if you only listen to acoustic music. there’s always Everyday Shooter for people like that.

    • I’ve played it to acoustic music, it depends on the difficulty level on the PC version. It just reacts more to changes of tempo or brush strokes of the drums instead, or the pitch of the vocals instead of the thumpa thump!

  5. this game looks as cool as epileptic!

  6. I love twin stick shooters, I love lights and I love explosions. I’m in.
