UK Chart: Being Dead is Expensive

Dead Island once again reigns supreme in the UK Chart, despite suffering from a stock shortage. This has caused many retailers to hike up the price of the game, with places such as GameStation selling it for £48 in store, whilst even my local indie shop had it up at £45.

Elsewhere there isn’t that much movement, although Resistance 3 has jumped up a place. I’m currently on Chapter 16 of the game and absolutely loving it. Those Goliath machines scare the life out of me.

  1. Wonder what the sales of GT5 are like with it being number 17?

    • Isn’t it on the platinum hits now? If so that would account for its climb back into the charts

  2. I have to say I’m really enjoying Dead Island, rented it on 360 this weekend and put 15hrs in so far. Won’t spoil it for anyone but act 2 was a pleasnt surprise.

My only complaint is that when you come across that grown woman that names, talks too and obsesses over her teddy bear, it won’t let you kill her!! :)

    • Finished it yesterday, wish i rented it to really. Yes that adult women and her friggin teady bear!!! Lol

    • It’s the one that goes on about blood being everywhere and soaking into everything that gets me.. Hasn’t she heard of Cillit Bang!?!?

  3. Glad Resistance 3 is doing well. Got a suprise copy from the other half this weekend as an anniversary pressie so I proceeded to play through the whole campaign in one sitting with a mate. Awesome game, really enjoyable and 100% better than R2.
Still nice to see actual games in the top 5 instead of a bunch of fitness/brain training titles :D

    • How long is the R3 campaign then? I’m tempted to pick it up this weekend. But then there are so many games coming out soon that I want (Arkham City being number 1 on the list)

      • Given we played it in one sitting it felt like an awesome length lol! But in reality we started at 2pm, took an hour’s break at around 5pm and another half hour break at 8pm and still managed to finish it at bang on midnight. Basically about 6.5hours on normal difficulty :)

Its definately a great game from start to finish though and one I can’t wait to play through again. I’d suggest renting if you aren’t interested in the multiplayer though

      • Agreed, thoroughly enjoyed my playthrough, there were some really good twists on the FPS genre. But with a 7hr campaign (I finished it in 2 sittings)I’m glad I rented TBH.

    • I thought there was a much longer campaign in R3? Bugger – that’s part of the reason i bought it, started it yesterday and played about four hours which means i have one play left to finish it. Why the hell do i buy games new anymore? Perhaps it’s time i learnt from my mistakes. :(

      • While obviously keeping spoilers to a minimum of course, where abouts are you in the story? As I say, I played through on normal difficulty and was playing it co-op so it argueably took me less time to playthrough it than someone playing single player.

      • This is why I’m waiting for it to be cheaper before I get it, also all the intel and patches kind of annoyed me..

      • I’m slightly reassured hearing that you may have sped thru the game R4U Eldave0 :)
.. *aaand relax*.. I tend to take the time to explore as much of the game world as possible so it might turn out alright in the end.. i’ll be more able to judge that when i’ve actually completed it :/

  4. Red Faction: Armageddon still hanging in there? Quite surprising. I might pick Dead Island up for the PC when the price drops. Enjoying the Yogscast playthrough so far. :)

    • It’s on play.com for £12, which could explain the number of copies shifted – I know I’ve bought my share of poor games for that price.

  5. That is a great top 5! I’m loving Dead sland and Resistance 3 at the moment.

  6. Good news for me as i was planning to trade it later and the values jumped up 3 quid(33),loved it but burnt out after five days of near constant play.

  7. Rented Resistance 3 and was very impressed , as i didnt have time to complete it and it goes back today i will be re-renting it out again for £1 on Wednesday .

  8. Glad R3 is doing well :P

I thought(for once, LoL)that SONY advertised a game right(in the UK anyway) I saw ads on TV, ads in Newspapers, ads on gaming sites etc etc. It made a change from just seeing Xbox 360 adverts every feck’in second(NO! i don’t want one! There is NO! point!) :D

  9. Good to see Resistance three up there and the other titles.

  10. Dead island is doing well despite it’s buggy nature. :) I am glad that Zumba is not moving up. I actually want Dead island as i need to teach those undead poopyheads a lesson. :)
