Electronic Arts has released two trailers which show Sports Illustrated hotties Irina Shayk and Chrissy Teigen writhing about in swimwear. The two lovely ladies have been digitised and feature as characters in the game.
Now at this point I really should stop typing, in fact I’ve typed more text and deleted it four times but, what the hell, it needs saying.
Really EA? In 2011? When females make up half the gaming population you think it’s fine to drop a pair of swimwear models into a racing game just to sell a few more copies? I thought this kind of marketing had died out. There are hundreds of talented actresses you could of used but you thought no, let’s crowbar some boobs into the game.
Frankly, I’m quite disgusted at this. It’s a shame that games companies still think they need to resort to this kind of thoughtless, cheap marketing in order to get attention. It’s even more of a shame that it tends to be quite successful.
This is sexist crap (any plans to release videos of the male characters writhing about in speedos? No, didn’t think so) and has no place in Need For Speed, other than for the tawdry titillation of sexually immature gamers.

Just because there are SI models it now becomes sexist I fail to understand. They are just adding something “new” because NFS is just the same always.

If you watch those ridiculous Fast and Furious films, plenty of hot girls – this is the market the game is aimed at. I wouldn’t watch one of those films again, but I’m not offended by the styling, sex sells, always has and always will. Would I buy the game? Well, I enjoyed Hot Pursuit and I’m intrigued by the new direction, so, maybe I will.

I’ve never bought a game because it’s got a digitized version of a celebrity in it, and never will.

What games females are playing makes a huge difference too as said titles are often far less open to crowbarring in cheap smut. Also, marketing research has shown (again and again) that the female form doesn’t put women off nearly as much as men put guys off in the same situation. It’s simple biology and it backs-up decades of advertising, shameless as it all sounds.

Well put, I fully agree

The only way EA could EVER make me buy another NFS title would be for them two to b pre-order bonuses or free DLC. Because the last 3 have been utterly terrible. However, Those girls are incredible, and as a guy thinking with his *other* head, I do not object to this type of marketing at all.

They need to give need for speed a break. Like they did before, when they came back with Underground. None of these games intrest me. Havent played a full need for speed game since underground 2. Hated the hot pursuit demo
