It turns out that Activision were showing Transformers: Fall Of Cybertron behind closed doors at PAX and a rather loose lipped young man spilled some details. However, the following should be classed as speculation and rumour for the moment.
- You will be able to play as Onslaught, Brawl, Blast Off, Swindle and Vortex and their gestalt mode, Bruticus.
- Players will also take control of Metroplex. For those who don’t follow Transformers, Metroplex transforms into an entire city. He is described as ‘f*cking gigantic’
- Grimlock will be playable and has a new gameplay style based around melee attacks. He will breath fire and eat people in Dinobot mode.
- The Dinobots and the Insecticons have beast modes rather than vehicles.
- The multiplayer character customisation has had an overhaul, you can now chose heads, armour, vehicle parts, colours etc.
- Jazz has a grappling hook and uses this to swing about levels, Spiderman style.
- The graphics are described as ‘amazing’ with some battles being played on the long dead bodies of giant Transformers.

I hope that when we play as Megaplex that it won’t be too big so he has limited moves kind of gameplay. Something tells me that he will be facing the entire US army(it is set in America right?)
I hope there will be massive transformers battles. Think God Of War style but instead of you bring down a massive boss, you are the massive boss. :D

War for Cybertron was one of those games I really wanted but just didn’t have enough time to play. The mutliplayer definitely seemed like the most interesting part, so I will keep an out for this one too.

i can’t wait to see how they handle Metroplex though.
you don’t a sense of scale when it’s just bots against bots, with some of the big guys like Metroplex it should bring a sense of scale into this TF series.

because i don’t think he had a clear grasp on how big the transformers were.
he definitely couldn’t seem to make his mind up about the size of Devastator.

If i remember correctly the dinobots visited earth millions of years before the official Transformers story line on earth ever started so its possible.

In the G1 cartoons, Grimlock and the rest of the Dinobots was created by Wheeljack after Ironhide discovered some dinosaur fossils.
In the G1 comics, the Ark crashes on earth millionsof years ago when Dinosaurs ruled the earth. At the time, The Ark detected Shockwave who had arived on seperate from the main group, so five bots were reconfigued to bledn in with what the ark percived to be the dominate life force. The dinobots and Shocker sbattle and all fall in to a tar pit and remain stuck until the present day.
That’s the reason why the bots turn in to vehicles btw – as mechnical beings are the only type of life the Ark knows, it mistakes present day cars, trains etc as life forms, not humans, hence why Prime is a truck rather than a bloke called Dennis.
In the Dreamwave comics the Dinobots existed on Cybertron as the Dynobots and transformed in to tanks and battle vehicles.
In the IDW comics the Dynobots are formed when they meet after battling in a giant contest much like a Roman gladitorial arena.
In Transfomers Animated the Dinobots are created when some animatronic dinosaurs in a theme park get hit by the allspark.
In Transfomers shattred Glass (a universe in which the Autobots are the bad guys and teh Decepticons are all cuddly) the Dinobots are created by Wheeljack and are drones, mindless attack creatures rather than fully alive.
In the special “Beast Within” comic that was given away with a set of TF DVDs, the Dinobots combine to form Monstrous.
Also of note in one continuity there is a sixth Dinobot, Paddles, an Anklosaur. He is the known as the Pete Best of the Dinobots.
Rumours are that for Fall Of Cybertron, Shockwave creates the Dinbots and they have been to Earth, hence the Dino modes.

Oh yeah, and for the Transformers movies number four and five that are about to start production, the Dinbots are.. ah yeah, can’t tell you that, sorry :)

and i’ve read a bit of marvel’s g1 series, and they fudged things a bit when it comes to the dinobots.
the ark crashed on earth four million years ago, by which time the dinosaurs had been dead sixty million years.
but that little inaccuracy didn’t affect the popularity of the dinobots.
some people don’t seem to think the dinobots would work in alive action movie, but personally, i think, if they can come up with a plausible explanation for their alt mode and they make sure they;re serious arse kickers, then i’d be happy to see grimlock and co on the big screen.
i’m not sure about the whole “me grimlock” thing though.
