So here we are! The drivers. Just before I show you the list I would like to point out that we still have spaces available (especially on Monday and Tuesday) to enter the F1 Championship and you can still enter up to our first race. To enter simply email me at adam[at]thesixthaxis[dot]com with the subject of F1 and the contents telling me your TSA and PSN id with your day and date of preference. We can add you to the list as the extra entries come in.

The first race starts this coming Sunday 16th October and the top 5 from each championship will go through to the final. The CTMs are AG2297, Teflon and JamboGT and while AG and Teflon are not able to win, Jambo is. So, last week we also asked you to vote on what tracks you would like to race on during the championship and the results are below (in the order of most popular):

Tracks 

  • Race 1 – Spa
  • Race 2 – Montreal
  • Race 3 – Melbourne
  • Race 4 – Monza
  • Race 5 – Silverstone
  • Race 6 – Nurburgring
  • Finals – Sao Paulo
These races will have a 1 lap practice (while waiting for any late comers too) followed by qualifying and a 20% race. The full rules can be found here. Remember to bring your headset and keyboard if you have one as we are a friendly bunch and we will have a text chat room open for each race.

In the meantime TSA member camtheman has set up a practice meet for Saturday which you can join (even if you aren’t entering the championship) to get some practice in before the first race on Sunday. This can be a great opportunity to practice set-ups and see how fast other drivers will be during the championship. It’s also worth remembering that practice meets will often mimic the upcoming race settings, giving you a real chance to practice. Feel free to set up your own F1 meet too, anyone with 250 TSA points or over can make a TSA meet.

I have also created a forum thread for the championship where details and standings will be updated regularly and members can post their thoughts on the races and championship as and when they wish. We would also love it if you could post a short summary of your race which we may put into race write ups each week here on the front page.

  3. Question, if all cars will be equal, what would be a good car to practice in in timetrail?

    • Red Bull would be the best I think. However in Time Trial in 2010 all cars were equal, not sure about 2011.

      • Good to know. The Red Bull is much better than the Lotus im driving in career mode! Better to be safe and use that than crash out on the first corner haha

  5. Looking forward to this as I really enjoyed last years tourny, with DRS & KERS it should be even more fun.

    • Forgot about the safty car, could add a few twists.

  6. Anyone know any shortcuts?

    • There must be at least one somewhere as the top time in the TT global rankings is just over 15 seconds!

    • Best short cut is to hang back and chill at the start then take a steady stroll around the ten or so cars that are in a mangled pile at turn one :P
      Good draws for each championship, I can see at least two strong racers in each group so they aren’t all grouped together in the same one, although group A seems to be slightly heftier as was the case last year.
      Really, really surprised that Istanbul didn’t make the cut in the voting as that’s gotta be one of the best tracks in the game, also Valencia will be missed.

      • I voted Valencia freeze but left out Istanbul, everyone seems to be strong there and it wasn’t one of my best. Tactics from the start ;-)

      • Istanbul won’t be there next year either as it’s been dropped, which is a shame.

  8. Oh yes can’t wait for this. I’m pretty sure freezebug will be the one to beat my group (c) considering he loves racing games.

    • Not really mate, I can see at least 2 people in that group that usually beat me online…if they stay on track ;) And there are a few new names in the group that could be secret Vettel’s.

      • really…just look at your TSA avatar, it’s an F1 car! I’m just going to be there to have fun but will be competitive as well.

      • Actually it’s just a thumbnail of the Ferrari F2007 car taken directly from GT5 prologue :P

      • But the F2007 is an F1 car? Used by Kimi to win the 2007 WDC.

      • Yip, that’s the one. I just wanted to add to OK’s comment that it was in fact a picture of an F1 car taken from a game rather than a picture of a real F1 car.

  9. Is it the 12 highest scoring drivers that go through or the top 4 from each?

    Either way, I’m slightly relieved that a lot of the strong drivers are in the Sunday and Monday night ones. That’s not to say that there won’t be some tough competition in Group C as well, but at least I won’t have Ash pulling me back bit by bit around Monza like in the meet the other day. 6 second lead on lap 3 became an overtake by lap 10 even though I was pushing to the limit. :D

  10. Can I just warn anyone that thinks they can overtake me and get away with it, I carry red and green shells and I’m not afraid to use them :P
