GTA V Announced

[drop2]Rockstar has just announced Grand Theft Auto V via their website.

Yes, we’re as surprised as you are – it’s come out of nowhere and already half the internet is talking about it.

According to the site, a trailer will follow on the 2nd of November, but nothing else is known yet apart from that ‘V’ looking suspiciously like a dollar bill, or the back of a playing card.

Money’s involved in a GTA game?  Surely not.  Vegas?  Maybe.

We’ll update when we can – we’re expecting a press release at some point.  In the meantime – GO WILD in the comments with speculation on what that ‘V’ is all about, that’s what they’re there for.

  1. Wow, out of nowhere, brilliant! :D

  2. \o/ I wonder if it will be set in Vice city again but get given the GTA4 treatment of making it massive? I hope Rockstar will return GTA to it’s fun roots and make it as fun as GTASA was. :)

    • I think it’s time for a new location. I would love it to be set in the UK but I think that’s highly unlikely. Just anywhere new would be great though

      • It would be nice to see a brand new location but Rockstar tends to recycle the 3 cities in GTA. I hope we see a location that is the same size as San Andreas but with the amount of detail that GTA 4’s Liberty city had.

      • Nah, San Andreas was a little too big in my opinion, especially with the massive areas of nothingness in between cities.
I’d prefer something the size of the Liberty City in 4 if it’s good and detailed and with more interiors.

      • I agree about the nothingness but i think Rockstar would be able to fill it in with a few detailed towns and some scenery. :)

    • Los Angeles is the favourite for the next location.

      • I never get why games are set in LA. The place is a dump. an absolute dump, same goes for movies too.

      • Glad I’m not the only one who thinks that Mikey, apart from the shonky mechanics – Streets Of L.A was terrible, for me, just because L.A is such a characterless dive.

      • Have you ever been to L.A?
        It’s freaking amazing.

      • I have been there. I found it boring and very very ugly. I just hated the place, and ever since then it annoys me when tv, games and movies are set there. Vegas and Miami are my fave american cities (that ive been to of course)

  3. I’m surprised at how unsurprised I am. Explains the GTA Steam sale I guess.

  4. Does this mean it’s a new engine? I thought the number only increased when the game engine changed.

GTA Gave rise to GTA london.

GTAII Don’t think it had any follow on games. Could be wrong.

GTAIII gave rise to Vice city and san andreas

Then a new number for GTAIV

Now GTAV. If it is a new engine, then you can consider my interest well and truley piqued.

    • Look at me replying to my own comment! Ego much? :P

Anyways, just wanted to add that the idea of the new game using the facial animation gubbins from L.A Noire excites me.

      • Seriously? Wow, prepare for awesome cutscenes then :P

  5. This news is like Cheryl Cole suddenly appearing in your bed…..Unexpected but would you really say you’d rather not?

  6. Er… ‘V’ is a roman numeral for five…

    • So, it’ll be set in Ancient Rome? Stealing chariots!

      • seems legit

      • I like this idea a lot. Please be set in Ancient Rome.

  7. Well this is a pleasant surprise! I’ve been quietly waiting patiently for some time for an announcement and this has come out of the blue

  8. Just bought the complete pack on Steam for £4.99. Got plenty of time to play them all again in the inevitably long build up to this game

  9. oh look another GTA, yaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwn !

  10. I think it would be pointless to speculate to much at this time. The only thing we know for sure is that it exsists, waiting till the 2nd November is all we can really do.

But I echo the calls for the fun, GTA 4 felt serious. And Niko was an awful character, to me Tommy still is THE best lead role of all the GTA games I’ve played.
