UK Chart: Battlefield 3 Still King

Battlefield 3 remains at the top of the UK Chart, fighting off some strong competition. Uncharted 3 debuts at number two, apparently selling 37% more than Uncharted 2. We sort of liked it.

Spyro continues to sneak up the chart, whilst Sonic Generations comes in at number ten. Our review goes live this afternoon. GoldenEye: Reloaded enters at 16, which is much better than expected due to the release of BF3, and MW3 on the horizon.

  1. I’m not surprised that UC3 is number 2 as it is an exclusive and exclusives rarely come in at number one unless there is a lack of games. :)

But will UC3 still be number two next week as Skyrim releases this week and that very small game. I can’t remeber what it is called? :p

  2. Just Dance beating Football Manager?!

    • Very tempted by Golden Eye, but then there’s also House of the Dead Overkill!

  3. interested in goldeneye review

    • Me too. Nice to see Drake up there though.

    • me too, hopefully will be great.

  4. Glad to see Drake doing well. Cannot get enough of this game. Got my shiny platinum trophy last night and am now ready to hit up the online :) With this, MW3, Saints Row 3 and WWE 12, my ps3 is going to get a hammering this month :D

    • P.s. glad to see Rage and GoW3 slipping out of the top 20, where they belong >:D mwhaha

      • Yeah, I’m happy too :)

      • In fairness, God of War 3 hasn’t been in the chart for months!! ;P

  5. UC3 needs more advertising.

    • yeah i didn’t know it was even out yet! they had no posters what so ever in my local game shops and i live in the centre of glagsow

      • Really? I’ve seen loads of posters in my local shops and also quite a lot of adverts on TV. Seems to me Sony are pushing UC3 more than any other game previously.

      • Well I’m in the Manchester area and there’s nothing about UC3 at the local GAME. Even Arndale, there’s no advertising. It’s Gears 3 and the console or BF3. If it wasn’t for gaming sites, I wouldn’t know that UC3 was out.

      • Really? How often do you visit this site?

      • It’s weird because apparently UC3 has had the largest markesting budget of all Sony’s games in the UK:

  6. Not too surprised by this result really – Whilst Uncharted was undoubtedly going to sell loads, it isn’t cross platform which would hinder it slightly in the climb up the charts. 2nd is actually pretty good going when you take that into consideration. Especially as I have instructed about 10 people that they simply must buy Battlefield this past week. :)

Obviously the real challenge will be whether it will keep CoD off of the number one spot, but this I doubt due to the instantly recognisable brand name & wealth of diehard fans that CoD has. I just hope that MW3 is actually good enough to warrant the sales.

    • To be honest I don’t really care if MW3 is good enough to warrant the vast number of sales. Just hope its good enough to warrant my sale.

      • It will be all this COD hate is starting to get old, there is a reason its the biggest shooter franchise in the world … because the games are ace!

  7. Thought UC3 would beat BF3, although considering BF3 is multiplat and BF3 has a way bigger marketing campaign, it’s not surprising. 2nd is still impressive.
Also, according to Eurogamer, BF3’s sales have dropped 54%!

    • This just puts it a little in perspective, doesn’t it? Even if the sales dropped 54%, it still outsells anything else that is out there and I can imagine it’s still by a huge margin.

  8. Maybe it’s because I’ve been completely caught up in Drake-hype but I didn’t even know Goldeneye was coming out yet. Anyone know if it is any good?

    • With the exception of the visuals (which are essentially just upscaled wii graphics) the rest of the game is apparently very solid. The single player is a little short but what do you expect from a modern day FPS? The real focus is the multiplayer :D

  9. And Zumba’s still in the top ten. Surely everyone (except me, honest) has a copy of it by now.

    • Nope, still not got my copy! :D

  10. You would think in the UK the PS3 doesn’t exist most of the time :-/
Take todays ‘Metro’ UK free newspaper in London – Nearly every page had a ‘COD:MW3’ advert & ‘ALL’ the photos of the game were ‘ALL’ Xbox 360 box versions? :-/ That sums up the PS3 media in the UK for you. Oh well.
+I got ‘Uncharted 3’ last week and it is brilliant + online modes are so much FUN to. Excellent game:P

    • Maybe at the moment but last month is was virtually all Battlefield 3 and PS3. Activision have an advertising deal with Microsoft so both MS and Acti will be paying to advertise their products.

I really need to get UC3 but may just rent it or wait til next month as I’m really looking forward to Assassin’s Creed more.
