Whilst the early press reviews of Activision’s Modern Warfare 3 were, well, fantastic, user opinion doesn’t yet seem to match the glowing comments from the industry critique.
[drop2]Of course, the first round of reviews from the big sites tend to be higher than the overall average, for whatever reason, but rarely is there such polarity between them and the buying public.“This is the BEST map pack for MW2 so far. It’s a little over priced though, they’re usually like $15,” says one user on Metacritic. “If you played one, you’ve played them all. Same thing. Get in line, everyone is buying this game,” says another.
“Played this sorry excuse of a game for a while yesterday after we picked it up on the midnight launch.”
“The funny thing is I had yet to realize this was the exact same game I’ve been playing for two years,” says another Metacritic user.
The common complaint appears to be that this is more of the same, although that shouldn’t come as a massive shock to most – it does have a ‘3’ at the end, and anything off the beaten path would have been judged equally as viciously.
With the user review average currently sitting at around 3.2/10, there’s certainly some unhappy people out there that have splashed cash on the much hyped Infinity Ward first person shooter.
We’ll have our review done as soon as humanly possible. We weren’t selected in the first round of review code, so bought the game at midnight last night with you guys.

lol personally i want mw3 to be like mw2 pretty dam obvious its going to be! User reviews after one day ok. Give it a month and lets see how many people are playing it……now thats the real user opinion of the game!

Thing is though, when I got to play it last night, it was yet another installment in the franchise that fails to live up to the one released 4 years ago.
It feels like a map pack, with a shorter campaign than Homefront ( which all of the industry slammed yet still give MW3 8+ scores ).
If I hadn’t had £40 in Asda vouchers from work then I’d feel ripped off. Graphically is looks as bad as Black Ops, which was a step back from MW2. Thankfully it plays more like the latter.

Metacritic site? lol lol lol Another crap internet site full of online idiots.
Tuffcub
I found MW3 to be exactly what I expected. Quite enjoyed the bits I played.

Exactly my thoughts.
rht992
oh wow was not expecting that. seems like a bit of a blow. fans of cod are normally over the moon for it

A bit off topic, but I’ve just realised that I still find the word “BLOPS” funny after a year.
Forrest_01
Is it because it is just one curvy line away from being ‘PLOPS’??
shields_t
That may well be why, plops are definitely funny.
Forrest_01
& never has a word been so accurately descriptive.

At this point, is there any chance what so ever of a measured response to this series? Lets face it, it’s NOT the pile of crap peple would have you belive, but equally its not the second coming (or third i guess), it is what it is, and it does what it does incredibley well. People hate it, but a hell of a lot of people love it as is demonstrated by the HUGE sales figures. Personally Im looking forward to playing the campaign through, wont be on the MP, im an old dog and the reflexes arent what they used to be so its BF3 for me. But all my friends teenage children adore this franchise, what im getting at is this, you want it, buy it, you dont, dont. Simple really.
Now then, where’s my slippers and blanket?

Exactly the same… :-)
I like it because I find the whole online multiplayer experience so easy to understand. I’m too old to understand these complex games – I still haven’t figured out how to race online in GT5 and I’ve given it a real go :-)

MW3 got a mention on ‘GMT with George Alagiah’ earlier today on BBC2.
It must be doing something good to get a report on an international news programme.
Forrest_01
Blowing up children?

No quite, It was on the number of millions of copies it was likely to sell.

I have to disagree with this. Look at Uncharted, that is not more of the same sequel by sequel. They push the boat, beat what they did before, look for ways to innovate the gameplay, and they have done so each time, and each time they get ever more glowing reviews from the public (from what I have seen).

I also think the difference between Unchartered 3 and MW3 is that the real name should be COD:8 (i think) and that is the problem. I guess if unchartered was to release a 7th iteration of a game in the same generation of console it would probably get the same hate…….
Thats quite scary when you think of the number of COD games and their sales figures!
Boomshanks
Well, no. The multiplayer of the game only got it’s current form with COD4 and it hasn’t evolved a lot in the 4 games after that.
DapperHayden007
I can’t really get into the gameplay video’s because MW2 was so terrible and MW3 looks the same
