During the latest Ubisoft investors call, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot announced a new Assassin’s Creed game for 2012.
“There will be another great full-fledged Assassin’s Creed title next year,” he said, without further details. “It will be another major release and we will be communicating more about it in the coming months.”
In other news pre-orders for Revelations are “significantly higher” than those for Brotherhood.

Depressingly obvious. They really need to rest the series for a year, getting sick of it.

Agreed, though I love the story they could do with more development. Adding a zip wire mechanic hardly constitutes boundless originality.

agreed as well, looking forward to Revealations but if they rested it for a year the anticipation would build and they’d have time to make it stellar.
Maybe they want to squeeze in as many as possible on the current hardware

AAAAHHHHH SHADDAPAYAFACE.
Assassin’s Creed is awesome, they can still have that franchise grow and introduce changes. Brotherhood was very different to II and Revelations might be altered enough to feel fresh again. So shush. :-P

Hooah! (the new +1 haha)

CB> I maybe think I’m actually more concerned about my wallet than anything. Being offerred another Assassin’s Creed year on year isn’t going to stop me buying them.

Assassin’s Creed 2 was awesome, but I just didn’t get the same level of enjoyment from Brotherhood and couldn’t be bothered to finish it. I didn’t think it had changed sufficiently to warrant it’s release, and as such I’m steering clear of Revelations altogether.

Gotta agree with CB. Like some people buy COD and FIFA every year without fail, Assasins’ Creed has become my (not so) guilty pleasure!
Cant wait until Christmas!

Interesting that since Ubi said it was important to allow franchises time to breathe & they wouldn’t just churn one out every year they’ve releases one in 2011 & will in 2012.
OriginalJonty (Aran Suddi)
Yeah, I remember Ubi saying that too. Oh well, money talks.

As any Creed fan knows, this has been in the pipeline for ages, to wrap up the main storyline in concjunction with 2012….
but its good to finally get confirmation. love the creed! :D
Kennykazey
Yep, it’s been the plan all along.

Errr… I don’t know I love Assassin’s Creed but I only play fifa 10 as to me it’s the same as 11 and 12…. don’t want to get very bored playing AC in 2012 and thinking back with
‘I have done this before’
Looking forward to Revelations though, just wish Ubi can take a break from the franchise.
Origami Killer
Sereies needs a break, if it wasn’t for the story I wouldn’t be returning to it this year, with Revelations.
bacon_nuts
and as I find the story a bit boring, I stopped after 2… I think they’d do a much better job taking longer over them myself
moshi
With the end of the story line being wrapped up in Revelations the next AC could be set any time and anywhere in the world which lends itself to a whole new ball park to play in.
MayContainEvil
I really hope they do take it somewhere different, there are so many interesting places they could explore. As it is I found Brotherhood a bit stale, I have no idea why I preordered Revelations.
ScottW-1976
Feel exactly the same way.
The problem is that I don’t seem to mind that COD doesn’t change that much year on year, I still always seem to enjoy it as it’s just mindless fun.
I adored AC2 and spent countless hours completing it. Got ACB the following year in a magazine subscription deal, played for about an hour and thought “meh, I’ve already done this” and immediately traded it in, which is why I have no excitement regarding ACR.
They have an opportunity to really do something interesting with this new title, so lets hope that they do.
Come on then guys/girls, where/when would you set a new AC adventure?
bacon_nuts
They could take it anywhere, but I get the feeling they won’t, because people will miss the more modern technological devices, even though i think a norse/egyptian or african AC would be incredible, It might feel like a step back..
SpikeyMikey23
You never know, they may have had 2 teams working on the series and this this will be Assassins Creed 3 hopefully. Brand new story. Kick Desmondo the f**k outta here!
Doubtful though!….
KeRaSh
I still have to play Brotherhood before even thinking about Revelations. They should just take their time with the next one.
gaffers101
Yes, it would be a good idea to give it a break, but in my opinion it’s a great series which many people (including me) are happy to buy into.
Maybe it would be better to see yearly DLC rather than stand alone discs?
xdarkmagician
This yearly production of AC has really put me off on any future AC games. The story in the first was amazing, but now I feel they’ve comprised on the plot just to meet the production schedule. Which makes the story seem like the only parts that matter are the first and last 10 minutes of cut-scenes, and the rest is just the introduction of new characters to either die or be killed. Its like watching ‘Lost’. Someone should tell Ubi, just because you have an idea for a new game mechanic doesn’t mean you need to make an entirely new game just to include it in the series.
