Hmm. A video showing bits of the Santa Monica office appeared yesterday on the US PlayStation Blog as part of a promo for the latest The Tester winner.
The grab – below – clearly shows Kratos in an area that we’ve not seen before, leading some to (fairly) assume it’s actually from the much rumoured but still not confirmed God of War IV.
Sony, though, say it’s not. “Sorry, but that’s old cut footage from God of War III,” said SCEA’s Kevin Furuichi, dashing any hopes that The Internet might have stumbled across a bit of a leak.
We don’t believe them.
There’s other bits of the video (like menu screens) that are blurred out, for starters, and Zeus only knows why employees at Santa Monica are still staring at bits chopped from GoW III.

I’m pretty confident that’s GoW IV, and am I the only one who think that statue looks kind of egyptian?
I read about this earlier today and it’s very strange how they chose to blur out one of the menu-screens if it’s just GoW III…
This is a neat “leak” (if it is one) for building hype and hope and bringing God of War back in the media before the rumored February reveal.

Why would they work on cut content for GOW3? Either, they plan on doing a DLC pack for GOW3 or they are working on GOW4. I really hope GOW4 moves away from the greek setting and have a new protaginst.

A lot of content gets cut out of GOW games to meet deadlines.

True, but why would they mess around with the cut content from prevouis games after many years? Doesn’t make sense. I can understand if GOW3 was released last year but it was released in 2010 and i think they didn’t commit any future resources to it once it had been released. =)

There is no reason for them to be poking about in GoWIII after all this time, it’s either GoW4 or GoWVita or perhaps both

They could easily be re-using assets (character/building wireframes/models) from 3 to save some time/effort in building the 4th no?

Well, yeah… but that still indicates they’re working on IV or GoWVita

They could be either showing someone who is working in order to show someone who is…working. For the sake of the camera/the tester. It wouldn’t make much sense to reveal GOW 4/Vita on this occasion.

This has to be a new game, another prequel or something? I haven’t played all the games so don’t know where this could fit in.
It’s a bit disappointing they haven’t moved to a new character/setting.

Sorry Sony. I completely understand your need to keep things under wraps, but I’m in tha process of my 4th play through with GoW3,and the scene in this pic is definitely NOT from 3.
