PSN Store Update: 01/02/12

The details of the latest PSN update have gone live over on the EU PlayStation Blog.

First up is the Gotham City Imposters beta to try, so you can decide if you prefer to be part of team Batman or Joker.

– ARTICLE CONTINUES BELOW –

Then there’s the Twisted Metal beta in case you fancy blowing everything to hell. Not content with that, there is also the multiplayer Syndicate demo that appeared on 360 yesterday. This FPS is a re-imagination of the classic 1993 title.

If you fancy giving your PSP some love before the Vita arrives later this month, check out the PSP Power Sale, and there’re some Metal Gear Solid avatars for anyone looking forward to Friday’s HD collections release, which we’ll have a review of soon.

  1. How can Twisted Metal be a ‘Beta’? It has already gone gold and is out in a few weeks?!

    • There’s patches dude :)

      • I mean, errm… OK you have a point.

    • It’s probably the usual trick of ‘put a demo out on the store, but if you call it a beta people will get more excited & more will be downloaded’.

  2. Oh do get FFV. Best battle system ever.

  3. Downloaded these from US store over night, will give them a spin later, they had the Puddle demo too

  4. That PSP Power Sale sucks. Great update anyway.

    • …okay

      Final Fantasy? Crazy Taxi?

    • Crush is great as well.

    • You would thought that there would be alot of more games. And they should really permenent price drop ALOT of games.

  5. ” Female Customization Equipment    (£1.59/€1.99) Rating: PEGI 12 ” hope this works on the wife, cheaper than plastic surgery.

  6. Oooo, a store update with stuff I actually want to download! :)
Gotham City and Twisted Metal demos for me, plus I may get a MGS avatar in order to use up some of my spare credit.
    Still no RE2&3 PSOne classics mind… :(

    • The MGS avatars could really be better :S

      • Oh really? Haven’t seen them yet. Something to look forward to when I get home then… heh. Fingers crossed one of them is half-decent. Given how many there are, laws of average suggest I should be in luck heh

  7. Mini Ninjas, a cracking little game. Though it should have been a PSN release back 2 years ago when it was released.

    • Agreed. I played it a couple of years ago thinking it was going to be an easy but dull platinum. Ended up loving it. Funny thing was nearly everyone I talked to said the same as me. The demo was shocking, but the main game amazing fun.

      • Forrest and I also sung (in harmony, obviously) it’s praises the other day. Great little game!

      • I don’t actually remember a demo, but it does hold the high accolade of being one of my seven patinum trophies!

      • Indeed a great game – Not sure it’s worth the price they are charging though. Pretty sure i paid less that that for it 2 years ago on disc & damn sure you can get it for less than that now!

      • I paid a tenner a a good 1 and a half years ago.

Saying that, I actually got really drunk and bought a bundle of 10 games for £100 so it was a good deal.

  8. I must say I’m getting fed up with people calling things “betas” when they’re just multiplayer demos.

It’s also rather telling that they’re both in the “Demo” section. ;)

This overuse of the term for a glorified demo is an insult to developers like Lightbox who are doing a proper beta.

    • Yup, totally.

Not saying Eat Sleep Play aren’t honing their server code, but it’s a demo.

      • It’s even called a multiplayer demo over at the US store?

  9. Sydicate demo and Dead Island DLC, which is nicely priced too! :)

    • I thought it was easily going to be a tenner. Might have to get it now :)

      • Yeah, I thought about 8 quid…so I’m pleased! The trailer was good so I’m hoping it’ll be fun :)

I might also check out the MGS avatars too.

      • Is that not what you said about the full game too and look what happened there ;)

      • DLC for Dead Island is £7.99 on the store btw

    • Let me know what you think of Syndicate. I went into it expecting nothing and actually ended up really enjoying it :)
      My thoughts: http://lifetimegamer.wordpress.com/2012/02/01/syndicate-demo-impressions-360/

      • Ok will do. I loved the original on my Amiga600. It looks a lot like Deus Ex from my initial impressions, but perhaps more interesting. And less yellow/gold.

      • It definatley has a strong Deus Ex vibe to it, just with co-op play and no option to be stealthy lol.

      • Nice read, and nice website too mate!

Co-op could be a strong selling point, its something I’ve really got into too.

  10. Been playing some TM this afternoon. A little beguiling at first but excellent when you finally get to grips with it.

    • When you get to grips with it – even after half hour, the controls were still not sinking in. Tried the other control schemes but still can’t find an ideal setup. Why-oh-why can we not customise the controls ourselves. I like the game but the control system is screwed and adds to the frustration!
