In light of some pretty overwhelming evidence leaked by an overenthusiastic retailer, Sony has officially confirmed that LittleBigPlanet Karting is indeed on the way:
“Update: we can confirm that LittleBigPlanet Karting is in fact in development and we look forward to sharing more on the game soon.”
So, Mario better watch out as there’s a Sackboy shaped blue shell about to spoil his party. Most expect this to be heavily based on ModNation Racers.

Sony finally comment on rumour & speculation.
Personally I think Sony should have backed MNR for one more game instead giving the title the ability to grow into a franchise on home console in its own right.
This could help Play.Create.Share spread further around Sony’s stable of franchises.
Perhaps sales will be better if it’s Sackboy is the mascot though

With MNR getting the Vita treatment, I imagine that that francchise will still continue on, but it makes sense to introduce what is arguably the most recognisable franchise that Sony has to the Karting genre.

I really don’t see what could be so different about LBPK compared to MNR (apart from the awful load times of course!) – I can see why they could be a good fit due to the similarities, but i think they are a little too similar personally.
I mean, what stops this from effectively being MNR, with sackboy… Which you could make in MNR anyway?

I confess; I’ve never enjoyed Mario Cart. I can’t imagine Media Molecule doing this so personally this doesn’t mean anything to me.
I would much rather hear about what Media Molecule are working on now.

I would be curious to see how this pans out. I liked (but bad at) MNR, and I love LBP so I can ONLY imagine what LBPK would be like.

Looks like Sony is out of ideas… anyway i don’t know how similar LBP Karting compared to LBP 2 custom made levels. Is it upside down camera angle or Third person?
