Inversion Launching In June

It looks like Namco’s finally nailed down a release date for their gravity defying shooter, Inversion. According to a press release Inversion will be launching on June 5th in North America and June 8th in Europe. According to the press release this “extra development time for Inversion affords the team the opportunity to create an enjoyable and engaging third-person shooter experience with a comprehensive multiplayer component, including extensive competitive and co-operative modes.”

Inversion is being developed by Saber Interactive, the same devs who worked on Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, and this game is being described as a title “that challenges players to master the forces of gravity to create moveable cover, use enemies as projectiles, and navigate through zero-gravity segments.”

Inversion will be available on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. There will also be a iOS/Android companion called The Inversion Project which will introduce players to the game’s world and allow players to experience some of what will be waiting in the main game including the gravity powers.   2. Sounds like quite a cool premise, but I can’t help feeling like it might fall into that ‘gimmick shooter’ genre, alongside singularity, Fracture, and to a certain extent, Red Faction.

    • I know what you are saying, but i for one didn’t find Singularity gimmicky in the slightest – The concept of time manipulation was gimmicky of course, but the way that the TMD was realised in the world & the powers you could wield was actually great. Singularity turned out to be a brilliant(but very underrated & underplayed) game.

      As for this game though, i don’t know – I played a bit at egx, but it experienced a fatal error whilst playing, returning the Xbox it was running on tro a debug screen. Not great first exposure then!

      What i played seemed decent enough though.

      • Well said regarding Singularity. I find it quite blasphemous to mentioned in the same breath as Fracture! ;)
