Mass Effect 3 Doesn’t Support ME2 Cloud Saves

Mass Effect 3 on 360 won’t support imported Mass Effect 2 cloud saves, EA has announced.

Not only that, but players who want to import ME2 save files must download them to the original hard drive used to make the save. Mass Effect 3 won’t accept saves which have been transferred to another 360 via the cloud.

What this means for some, however, is that if the hard drive you used to originally play Mass Effect 2 on has gone kaput, you’re out of luck.

The publisher has also warned that manipulated saves, including ones with data for a “community created program”, may not import into ME3.

EA released this statement, possibly in the hopes that it would make everything better:

“We understand this may be a great setback to those impacted who have been following the Mass Effect franchise over the years.

“We thank you for your patience.”

  1. well i played the first two when i still had a 20 gig hdd, now i have a 250 gig drive, and because of that i can’t import my me2 saves?

the hours i put into those games, doing the fucking tedious mining, much of it before they speeded it up in a patch.
and that’s all gone because i upgraded a part of my machine?

for the record, i bought the first two new, i actually got the special edition of the first one.

just another point to add on the long list of reasons why i’ll never buy an ea game new ever again.

    fuck em.

    • Your loss.

      • not really

i’ll still play the game, ea just wont make money off me when i do.

ea need to learn, if they drive everybody away from their games, the people won’t suffer, maybe they’ll miss out on some games, maybe even a few actually good ones among all the digital feces, but believe me, they’ll live.

ea on the other hand, well if nobody buys their games, it’s over for them.
they’re gone, finished, kaput, burning in hell where they deserve.

the day that happens will be a day of celebration for me.

  2. Isn’t this exactly the sort of thing cloud storage is set up for? So no matter what happens to your hardware, your data is safe, sound and useable?

That being the case, my question becomes: Whats the frikin point?

Fortunatley, I foresaw such a complication when my origional xbox died, so I kept the HDD and transfered my ME1 save to my new xbox. Then when I finished I made a backup ME2 save to the origional HDD. And to think, I thought I was being a little paranoid at the time…

  3. what are the chances they’ll sell some sort of save importer or editor at a later date?

hell, it’s ea, so expect the worst.
    they’re already selling xp.

how long before they rent out the ai to play the game for you?

  4. As this particular issue only seems to affect the 360 I wouldn’t be surprised if the XBox Live network isn’t to blame in some way.

  5. They thank us for our patience? Patience for what?

  6. So long as my PS3 cloud save works I’m happy.
