CoD Black Ops 2 Gets Leaked Multiplayer Feature List And Release Date

Although Activision are yet to actually announce Black Ops 2, a set of multiplayer details and a release date has leaked overnight.  The info first appeared on the official forums, but was swiftly removed.  Naturally, somebody took down the list and now it’s all over the net.

Naturally we have to advise that this is strictly all rumours at this stage.

Game Modes

  • Escort, a new game mode
  • > Similar to Search and Destroy however a live player must be escorted to one of three areas (or two depending on the map) without being killed.
  • >The match will have rounds, consisting of one life only.
  • Drop Zone and Kill Confirmed will return
  • Team Defender and Infected will not return

  • Will follow from Modern Warfare 3’s system
  • Larger emphasis on objectives
  • > A bomb plant is worth 2 points
  • > A neutral flag is worth 1, however an enemy flag is worth 2
  • > A flag assist capture is worth 1, a capture is worth 2
  •  The Specialist Pointstreak has be modified
  • > 2 kills now gets you 1 perk
  • > The 4th kill gets you 2 more perks
  • > The 6th kill gets you 3 more perks
  • > The 8th Kill gets you 4 more perks
  • > You do not get every perk when you reach 8 kills
  • > Perks only become “Pro” when you have them Pro
  •  RC XD will not return
  • Heat vision
  • > Is a new Pointstreak reward
  • > When you get the required points, you can activate this Pointstreak and your player pulls out a scope and attaches it to your weapon.
  • > This scopes main advantage is it’s ability to detect enemies through most walls.
  • > Note, the scope can only be attached to primaries not including shotguns
  • Item Packages
  • > Requires 5 points
  • > Fall along side care packages and air drop traps.
  • > Features a list of package items only
  • > Including ammo, mini gun, grenade launcher, rocket launcher, and body armor

  • There will be 15 prestiges
  • There will be 50 ranks
  • Every two prestiges there is a 5 rank increase
  • The final prestige has 90 levels

  • ELITE is being fully incorporated into Black Ops 2
  • Combat record has been modified and re-named as ELITE Stats
  • There will be a specific lobby for clan matches (new way of leveling clans)
  • Clan Tournaments can now be implemented

  • No MOAB or Nuke
  • No last stand
  • No death streaks
  • No flame thrower attachment

Map Design

  • Map design and size will be following Black Ops not Modern Warfare 3

Sniper Rifles

  • Improved sniper rifle usage.
  • No aim assist for any sniper rifle.
  • Less sway

  • No longer just perk 1 chooses the players appearance
  • Appearance is a combination of all perks and type of Pointstreak being used.

  • Larger emphasis on hardcore than ever before
  • No grenade launchers
  • Only vehicle guided rocket launchers permitted
  • Respawn timings decreased (for most modes)
  • 1 bullet in the foot will no longer kill a person, a head or chest shot is usually required.
  • A person will now bleed out if severely injured.

Perk System 2.0

  • The Perk Pro system has been upgraded
  • There is now 2 options a perk can advance to.
  • Both require different challenges to unlock
  • Once the desired Pro version is unlocked, the player can select that as their “Perk Pro”.
  • Once selected, the only way to choose the other option is by entering prestige mode.
  • For example Perk slot 1 has the perk called Speed
  • Speed – Reduces the time taken to aim down the sight
  • > Pro I – Swaps weapons faster
  • > Pro II – Throws equipment faster

Combat Training

  • Will be returning with vast improvements.
  • Difficulty is no longer based on how long the bots take to start shooting.
  • Bots now have an advance AI system
  • Similar to the behavior seen in the MW3 Spec Ops survival

I don’t play CoD online, so I’ve no idea what most of the above means apart from waking up to noise from players after reading this that suggest the improvements aren’t necessarily suited to everyone.  Am I doing that right?  Subtle enough?

The game’s apparently out at the beginning of November.

  1. Particularly interested in the ‘escort’ mode, wondering how they will successfully integrate hookers into the game…

    • Boom boom tish. Or d’oh! One or t’other.

    • Im not. You think that they would have learnt half the fan base are 12 yr old americans who go out to annoy the hell out of you. I can just imagine one of them being the escort…

  2. Doesn’t seem legit to me. Still, BLOPS was one of the few Call of Duty games I thoroughly enjoyed (COD2 is still easily the best though) so I’d be glad to see a sequel :)

  3. Can’t they just make some huge changes.. innovative changes like inter-galactic battles? No?

  4. This will be the first CoD since before CoD3 I won’t buy if it runs like the XBox port we got last time, multiplayer ran terribly.
If these rumours are true I understand not having the Nuke but the MOAB isn’t that bad – you need 25 GUN kills in what appears to be a more balanced game each time, which is pretty tough, and it only kills the enemy team once each, so its essentially no more powerful than an AC130 etc (if used correctly). I only imagine this is due to them being boosted – which is silly since they said they would ban boosters and there is the Theatre Mode and Report buttons to assist with this.
The Prestige system is meaningless imo – it doesn’t mean you’re more prestigious than another player. A player can be far worse than you but because they play it more or use their Prestige Points to buy double XP, they reach a higher rank than you quicker. MW2 (pre-boosting/hacking) was better in that respect as some of the emblem/titles that you got for completing difficult challenges showed you were a decent player, not your Prestige.
Not having the Infected game mode also seems like a silly choice as its great fun and really popular.
One huge positive though is the Sniper Rifle aim assist, hopefully this will prevent people using them in CQ seeing as they are one-shot kills and can out-do an SMG which is ridiculous!

    • Oh, and the return of combat training would be good. However, it previously required you to be online (how stupid) so it meant that people without an internet connection still couldn’t simulate online multiplayer.

      • Agreed. Couldn’t understand why playing offline with bots was tucked away in the online section.
Saints Row 3 has the same problem with it’s system link co-op mode

    • The problem is mate that they said that with BlOps 1 and then they went back on their word as the QS comunity kicked off. I’m sure the Non QS comuntiy is bigger. But who is more important?

      • Apparently the kids who play, even though they aren’t old enough.

      • Now i like to the QS community & i like the Non QS community, but whick one is more important?

Theres only one way to find out….. Fiiiigghhht!

  5. Loved BlOps, only FPS I’ve ever played for more than an hour, finished it twice, the second time straight after the first. Much preferred its multiplayer in comparison to the cluster-fuck I’ve personally always found IW’s titles.

Anyway, CoD has been mentioned, bring on gaming’s snobs

  6. Sounds all the same.

  7. Made by Treyarc, expect it to be bad. That said, other than Cod 2 and the first MW game, I’ve not been a fan of the rest of the series.

    • Treyarch’s COD is better than Infinity Wards.

      • Not on PS3. Black Ops sucked balls on PS3.

  8. Sounds like they’re changing quite a bit, I always reckon that Treyarch innovate far more than Infinity Ward.

I wonder when they’ll decide that CoD needs a new engine. Next generation?

  9. No aim assist for any sniper rifle.
    No grenade launchers.

Seems like they have taken out 2 of the 3 things I hate about cod. Now if only they could do something about the millions of 12 year olds…

  10. I’m just bored of the MP now. I will probably pick it up as its sure to have Zombies. That and it’ll be an easy Plat
