DCUO To Receive PvP-Focused Expansion

Expansions seem to be coming thick and fast for free-to-play superhero MMO, DC Universe Online. Since last Autumn, we’ve seen a trio of content packs, each one introducing a slew of features including new powers instances and quest-lines.

However SOE are taking a different direction with DCUO’s fourth expansion, The Last Laugh. Announced earlier today, the DLC is geared towards enhancing the already well-balanced PvP component with new arenas and modes taking place in the familiar safe houses scattered around Gotham and Metropolis.

These new game types will have players recovering tech, rescuing hostages/prisoners and planting/defusing bombs, The Last Laugh also enabling 16-player battle royales in the Watchtower and Hall of Doom.

If you’re not one of the PvP crowd, there is a smidgen of content that might justify the yet-to-be announced asking price. We’ve seen additional powers added to the game, but now players will have access to an all-new weapon, the shield.

Expect to see The Last Laugh launch sometime in June for both PC and PlayStation 3.

  1. Thought DCUO is PS3 exclusive? how some expansion DLC coming to 360?

  2. how is*

    • Didn’t you hear? SONY are bringing DCUO to Microsoft’s Xbox 360?

Nah, just playing. Went to write PC and PS3. Force of habit ;)

  3. waiting for my new harddrive to come going to sink some hours in to this.

  4. The game is shitty anyway… It doesn’t worth it’s subscription, and it’s pretty much a trial without it (no Action House, no crafting, no Economy and barely enough money for repairs).

And managing a party to clear the simplest instance in the console version is a nightmare. Perhaps focussing on PVP isn’t a bad idea…

    • how long since yo been on this game? cause there is crafting on this game now and lots of people online every day, no problem finding squads. And lots to do now.

      • I’ve bough it a month before it became free, I leveled a vilian up to level 20, and we still have trouble to do a instance that requires the slightest form of co-operation.

That game is also flawed from other aspects by it self obviously. For example, it pretends to let you have your own hero, and through the whole game you are licking the shues of DC’s existing ones. It also pretends to let you use your phantasy when it comes to sellecting your heroe’s powers and weapons, and then you realise that some things don’t match together, like a tank power with a ranged weapon.
There are many other poppular flaws I can pinpoint, but lets just focus on the problems sorounding the free members.

I stoped playing when I realised that after a few wipes, all my 2000 credits that I was allowed to have were barelly enough for my repairs, and I wasn’t even at end-level yet.

Crafting is kinda useless when you can’t sell or buy anything from the action house. And the Action House is unusable with the 2000 credit limit!

And then GW2 came allong, rising our standarts of what to expect from subscription-less MMO’s.
