Starhawk Retail Only, Dylan Jobe Confirms

Well, that’s one way to feel a bit stupid.

Despite being told earlier today that Starhawk was coming to the PSN Store this week, Lightbox Interactive’s Dylan Jobe has told TheSixthAxis that this isn’t the case.

“I can confirm Starhawk is retail-only right now but we might release a downloadable version in the future,” he said over Twitter.

We’ve pinged SCEE again this evening for clarification – we’re assuming there’s been some kind of mix-up somewhere – but aren’t expecting to hear back until the morning.

  1. It’s funny how everyone always says “Who on Earth would pay 49.99 for a game from the Store when you can get a retail copy for much cheaper?”. But, they all want Starhawk to be released on the Store so they can buy it.

    Irony much?

    • Irony much?

      English speak?

    • Perhaps Starhawk is just one of the those games that some people don’t want to get rid of in future. I personally can’t wait for this but I would buy in disc form and not digital. It’s very convenient to have it right there in the XMB ready to start, especially if you like to switch between games frequently. You say it’s ironic, but imagine if COD had a digital release? People would snap it up instantly.

  2. Shame. Means I won’t be getting it now as it’ll be twice as expensive as it should be. Ah well.

  3. But i wanted to pay £50-£70 for it. DAMM YOU SCEE FOR NOT RIPPING US OFF AGAIN! :p

Wonder if it will have a forced install? Personally, I’m glad that there is a retail version as it saves space on my aging 80GB. :)

  4. doesn’t bother me personally…I think digital is a rip off on PSN anyway.

  5. Shame, I always regretted buying Warhawk on disk rather than digitally. It would have been played more otherwise, much like my digital copy of Burnout Paradise got played a lot simply because ‘the disk’ was always in my PS3.

I’ll probably wait and see if it gets a digital release.

  6. Oh well, that’s a shame.
On the plus side I did just remember that I got emailed a £5 off Starhawk HMV code a week or two ago, so I’m going to pre-order it from there, plus I have like £40 of credit to use up :)
