According to GameBlog, Gaikai has been sending out press invites to an E3 event that all but confirms a streaming partnership with a console manufacturer.
“Gaikai has major announcements for E3,” says a translation of the page, “which has the potential to change the future of video game, the game consoles and the way in which we play.”
Yesterday we ran an article speculating that Sony were planning to introduce streaming for – possibly – games or movies, and the above invite and text certainly seems to connect with that.

Oh well, if this is also the big ‘PS+’ thing, I’m not too bothered. If you check out the games (www.gaikai.com/games/), there’s nothing there that makes me want it in particular. Only if they increase their library and maybe offer a different subscription other than PS+ I’ll be interested.

Sony would be mad not to look into this. Onlive has proved it can be done, even if the quality is not great for everyone yet but it’s only going to get better.
Why would Sony want to produce expensive consoles when they can manage and control their own servers and continually upgrade them as and when required.
Personally I would like to see a subscription service that provides access to any game hosted, I spend quite a lot on games anyway and I’d rather get access to everything than watch so many of my games to go unused until I get round to them. Can’t see the open access idea making the cut though.

I really hope the big PS+ announcement is something else than a streaming service.
skibadee
would they not be at E3 anyway?
bmg_123
Why would there be a need for them there otherwise?
skibadee
to announce new games maybe a new feature for there own service.

Not interested then; tried both Gakai and Onlive but they were both pretty crap. Since my broadband isn’t the fastest, all of the games played at a laggy standard resolution, and I bought a HD tv for a reason…so no thanks, Sony.

My internet speed isn’t fast enough to handle such streaming so although I find this interesting, I won’t be using it if it is true.

Same here, as much as I’d like it I’d never get it to work.

Hmmm, not seeing the connection.

As long as it is at least as reliable as OnLive and the library of games is on par, Id be willing to pay for it.
I’ve got a good reliable internet connection with unlimited usage, so bring it on ;-)

I’m interested but like many others, my 5mb connection is probably not good enough to use it to its potential? Gimme a fibre connection BT & I’ll be good ;)

Get ready to start trimming that beard matey! ;-)

If there is such a partnership, it’s probably US-only anyway.

yeah, i’d agree with this.

Well even with the 120Mb download speed I get Dirt 3 was still pish to play OnLive! I want precision with the only latency being between my controller – console – TV!
I can see Sniper Elite V2 via streaming – leading targets would require Mystic Meg!
