360 Gets Timed Exclusivity on South Park: The Stick of Truth DLC

The creators of South Park, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, took to the stage at Microsoft’s E3 conference to give a little info on the upcoming South Park game, The Stick of Truth. Other than mocking previous conference happenings and saying that they were literally leaving to go work on the game before leaving the stage, they didn’t really say too much. The PR email we received from THQ afterwards did, though.

Apparently the game revolves around you, the new kid in South Park. You have fancy powers and are tasked with saving South Park from something, though we’re uncertain as to what that is at the moment. In the trailer that was shown, it seemed the other kids were unsure of whether or not to trust you, too. This is literally all the info we have on the storyline right now.

[drop2]The first three pieces of DLC for The Stick of Truth will available for the 360 first, though we have no clue how long it will take for them to make their way to other platforms. The DLCs will be separate from the main game, serving as standalone stories that will take place in new, previously unseen parts of South Park.

There will also be a 360 exclusive pre-order incentive called the Mysterion Superhero Pack, based on the classic episode “Mysterion Rises). It will contain a superhero costume, a special attack (literally called the Mysterion Special Attack!) and the Dagger of Cthulhu, apparently the same weapon used to kill Mysterion in the episode.

There’s another pre-order pack called the Good Times with Weapons Pack that isn’t 360 exclusive, thankfully. This one is based on the episode of the same name and features a Bulrog Chicken Attack (turn enemies into chickens), Catman’s Kick-Ass Sai and a Samurai Costume. Presumably this is also available to 360 owners, so 360 players can get both pre-order incentive packs and three exclusive DLCs, which is great for 360-owning South Park fans and terrible for all the others.

Kinect will also be supported for taunting enemies and launch attacks with your voice. Apparently you can call Cartman a fat ass and he’ll actually respond.

If that isn’t the future, I don’t know what is.

  1. Hope this game is better than the latest season of South Park! The Jewpacabra and ziplining episodes were so bad.

    • I really liked the latest series and the ziplining episode. I’m so f***ing bored! :D

      • Wasn’t a bad season so far but older seasons are far more entertaining.

  2. Bad kitty.

  3. I’ll probably buy it for PS3 and not miss the Kinect features and day one DLC.

  4. GOOD never mind snore snore

  5. I wonder how much it cost them to get on the stage :O

  6. as a rule i don’t tend to buy dlc that’s announced months before the game launches anyway, so no big there.

i am interested in the game though.

  7. Not particularly bothered about this, but Microsoft seem to be doing a lot of this lately. Is this what it has come to? This sort of strategy is what fuels my Microsoft fire of rage. Please stop.

  8. one thing i’d like to ask though, does this actually work?

would people choose the xbox version because of exclusive dlc?

    • hell yes lol, most games no, south park game oh yes!

    • personally not for me – it didn’t work for Skyrim I bought it for the ps3 even knowing before the games release xbox had timed exclusivity to the dlc

I prefer playing games on my ps3 and I will play South Park on my ps3 even though I really don’t like the work of Obsidian
