PS3 Exclusive RPG Rainbow Moon Release Date Revealed

In the middle of the night, an email landed into our inbox from Hong Kong. It was eastasiasoft telling us exactly when their upcoming PS3 Exclusive RPG was due to be released.

Rainbow Moon will be on the EU PSN on July 4th, with North American and South East Asian release dates still to be finalised but listed for July too. It will be priced at an extremely tempting €12.99/£9.99 in Europe and $14.99 or equivalent in the other regions. That’s for a good sized RPG with six playable characters and over forty hours of play time. Sounds like a bargain to me.

To accompany the release date announcement, and the notification that the game will receive over 20 free and paid DLC packs in its first month after release, there are a bajillion new screenshots to gawp at.

  1. i just got to pic 7, and the battle seems a little one sided to me.
those monster things with the horns seem to have a teeny bit of a numerical advantage.
at least it looks that way to me, but then maths was never my strong point.

    anyway.

    the game does look cool.
    just my kind of game.

  2. I have been excited about this for a while, and the presentation looks fantastic! However, since acquiring my Vita I just don’t think I’ll have a spare 40 hours, and it’s price will probably exceed £20 if I were to buy all of the DLC (only a guess, obviously). It’s a shame this isn’t on the Vita.

    • You get 20 free paid for DLC first month that’s saves you that £20

      • I read it as there will be 20 DLC packs in the first month, some free “and” some paid. So if the game costs £10, I suspect the paid for DLC will exceed a further £10 – just guessing. Not that it’s bad value, but with my PS3 backlog and Vita, I may have to give this a miss, sadly.

      • Thanks for the update Peter. So is this kind of a pay-as-you-play, not too keen if you have to buy in-game currency? But as long as you can earn it too, most of this DLC looks avoidable anyway which is good news (if I want to make the game more attractive to myself by keeping it cheap).

      • Youles, the DLC isn’t required at all, it’s simply to allow you to get a head start on the game. As with any RPG, put in the hours and you’ll be fine.

      • Thanks – I’ll see how my backlog of games is coming along when this is released :)

  3. Lovely looking isometric style. Hopefully it turns out to be a beauty in the score department too. :)

  4. Sounds like fun and for those interested it’s got a platinum :)

Turn based RPG count me in.

    More like this please.

  5. I didn’t get it: is it in a total of 20 dlc, some will be free and some paid?
It looks great, but I can’t see myself buying it right now, specially after the PS+ über offer. Unless there’s a Plus discount, I’m a sucker for those :p

  6. Day 1 :)

  7. Looking forward to getting this, it looks awesome.

  8. Looks brilliant.
Like a mash-up of HOMM, D3 & Phantom Brave (Disgaea type game).

  9. Looks fun, should I ever get around to finishing with Disgaea 4 (or if it ever finishes with me)

I think this screenshot sold it for me though…

It’s obviously some weird practice I’ve not heard of, but which I’m now going to have to Google to see if I fancy giving it a go. I bet it involves lemons or something.

  10. looking forward to this but not sure if it will be a day 1 purchase – wait for a sale or plus discount or maybe its the free July plus game o_O (I wish)
