Okami HD Confirmed, Will Feature Move Support

Yesterday’s rumours were true, then – Capcom’s bringing Okami to the PS3 natively and it’ll feature HD visuals (and a 16:9 aspect ratio) and Move support.  “I did not think it was possible to make the game look even better, but when I saw it for myself, I was a believer,” said Tristan Corbett, Marketing Manager for the publisher.

“The trademark sumi-e ink art style lends itself perfectly to HD, allowing players to experience more of the awe-inspiring world displayed in more detail than ever before,” he added.

“To create an even more immersive experience, you can take your PlayStation Move motion controller and use it as your own Celestial Brush and naturally make brush strokes to defeat enemies and solve puzzles.” The game will also feature traditional controls, though, if Move’s not your thing.

It’ll be a PSN download, and will feature a Platinum trophy.

  1. Good news for us gamers but this game has failed twice already (PS2 then the Wii re-release). Have to wonder why they keep trying.

    • Failed? Per Wikipedia, It got a metascore of 93, and sold 200,000 copies in the US alone in 2006, grossing approximately $8 million! Okami on PS2 was lovely! I’m really pleased they are re-releasing it, and it’s perfect for the move.

      • Ok – so the sales aren’t great, but it’s still a beaut.

      • Sorry, wasn’t clear. The game is great. The sales sucked.

    • In its defence, wasn’t it released while Sony were pushing the PS3?

  2. Ok no one has said it yet so I will…..PS Vita version?

It would be cool to really use that touch screen to paint your way through the game.

  3. I loved this game so much – so happy its finally coming out move enabled (after all the wii had it for years) – I loved the bits where you fed the animals

    Clover was a genius developer

  4. Never played it the first time. Price will decide if i play it this time.

    • I’ve no idea why it wasn’t in the article, according to the blog post it’ll be £16.

      • Cheers R1M – Hmmm, thats a touch pricey for a game i know absolutely nothing about.

Might be one for the sale for me i think.

  5. If only someone would do a ‘TimeSplitters 2 HD'(or all 3 TS games) update :-/ Yes i have said it 10 trillion times now LoL:D

  6. For me, this is such a massive piece of news that it should have been announced at E3. I would have gladly watched 20 minutes of Okami on that big screen during Sony’s conference and declared Sony winners outright there and then.

  7. ”… but when I saw it for myself, I was a believer,” said Tristan Corbett, Marketing Manager for the publisher.

hmmmm I’m sure you did Mr Marketing man!

(by the way I’m not critising the game here, it’s beautiful and a stunning gem of a game, I’m just always facinated how these quotes come from people who, I dunno get paid by the company!)

  8. Ha! High Definition dog bum.

  9. Never got around to play this, now might be the time :)

  10. Definitely gonna pick this up!
