BioWare has done well to support its latest sci-fi blockbuster with a slew of substantive multiplayer DLC (all of which has been free, might we add). However, for a sizeable portion of the Mass Effect fan base, these content drops have only served as appetisers for the eagerly-anticipated “Extended Cut” that will launch next week for Xbox 360, PlayStation and PC.
Weighing in at a hefty 1.9GB, this title update brings a slew of new content to table in the form of cutscenes and a playable epilogue. You see, when the game launched back in March, a number of players were left shocked and appalled when the final credits began to roll. For some, the ending itself was deemed nonsensical and out-of-touch with the rest of the trilogy, but for others it was the lack of explanation and character focus that caused mass disgruntlement.
As stated before, this extended cut won’t change the ending in any fundamental way, only adding to it. “Closure” and “characters” are two words that crop up continuously during BioWare internal interview with Mac Walters and Casey Hudson.
Unfortunately there’s easy way to access it; players will need to reboot a save prior to the Cerberus Base attack and steam through the final hours to find the new content.

Except for those with a PS3 as they will get it on the 4th of July. DAMM YOU SCEE! If they make all of the events of the ME trilogy turn out to be the dreams of a struggling writer in new york, someone is getting probed.
Also, it’s 1.9GB apparently.
RocketSOL
I loved ME3 as it was but i’m still looking forward to the additional scenes that have been produced to see how much more clarity they provide. Should be good!
BlindMonkey
I don’t want to play through all that again to get the new content.
BIGAL-1992
If I remember correctly, the game autosave a save file just when you enter the citadel after entering the beam, so you only have to replay from that point onwards.
SH Number 7/Mini-Lipscombe
The same day as Dawnguard? AHHHH! What too do!
Kaminari
Dawnguard won’t be released on PS3 before at least end of July.
SH Number 7/Mini-Lipscombe
Luckily I play it on 360.

Game saves before the Cerberus mission after you finish the game, so you will have a save game there. Problem is you will probably need to multiplayer a bit to get your galactic Readiness up again…
