Pokemon Black & White 2 Sells Bucketloads In Japan

Pokemon is popular in Japan, but just how popular you may ask?

The recently released Black and White 2 has sold a whopping 1,618,621 in just two days on the market.

Impressive sales figures indeed, especially considering that it is the first game to shift over 1 million units in the region this year, on any platform.

These figures make it the third fastest selling DS title in Japan, behind Dragon Quest IX and – surprise, surprise – Pokemon Black and White.

  1. well, there’s one part of nintendo that will seemingly always be profitable.

  2. Last one I played was Leaf Green, with the infra-red jobby in the box.
Have they changed much since then?

    • Everything is animated now in the games, the battles and the presentation is genraly much better. The Animated battles really look good if you compare it to how it used to be way back then. I guess im in the minority of being one of the people that still play these games .

      • I love Pokemon BUT it needs a massive change. If you have played one Pokemon you have played them all in my eyes.

  3. Nothing will be as good as blue or yellow for me. Childhood memories FTW!

  4. Looks like 3DS sales will be mental then (I know it’s DS title but this will generate a lot of sales for 3DS also due to it being backwards compatible).

    I predict 150k-200k.

  5. The day they release a 3DS native Pokemon game is the day I buy a 3DS.

    Your move, Nintendo.

  6. Should really give some of the older ones a try if you havnt for ages, they are the definition of a time sink, extremely cheap now, and nothing beats the feeling of discovering a new world and exploring it
