UK Charts: Batman Keeps Top Spot As Spider-Man Appears In Second

UK charts for last week show a couple of superhero games at the top, namely Lego Batman and The Amazing Spider-man.

Most sales of Spider-man were on 360, with 56%. 42% were on PS3 and the remainder were shared amongst Wii, 3DS and DS. FIFA’s down 12% to 5th place from 2nd.

Spec Ops in third is encouraging, no doubt bolstered by some great reviews (including ours) and some smart non-specialist magazine advertising.

The rest of the chart looks like this, with Skyrim up 121%, no doubt due to the new Dawnguard DLC.

  1. Huh, interesting how DLC can bolster sales by that much. I never thought of it in that way.

    • I agree. Seems odd that people would be excited about DLC if they weren’t already interested enough in the game to have bought it.

  3. Rayman Origins and Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning are still selling. Good news.

  4. Strange to see Black Ops in 18th but MW3 way down in 34th. You’d think it would be the other way around, considering release dates.

    • I think people are trying to get in the mood for Blops 2, released in a matter of months now.

  5. I’m guessing MGS HD is the vita version good debut in top 10!

    Either amazon or the total mail is a f*ck up I’m still waiting for my copy that was meant come Friday

    • My guess would be the Royal Mail. Amazon are awesome when it comes to pre-orders normally, beaten only by shopto

      • Shopto.net is brilliant! I always get stuff early or on the day. I got FIFA 11 3 days early and MGS HD Collection a day early!

  6. Nice to see Batman still in 1st place, where it belongs. Invested a lot of time into that great game this past weekend.

  7. I wonder if that Olympics game is any good, always fancied a good track and field game ever since the awesome Track and Field game on PS1, but none have delivered since.

    It’d be intersting to see how many PSN downloads the R&C trilogy got compared to retail disc sales…..as it’s cheaper to buy on the store {:’o

    • I just thought exactly the same thing about the Olympics game, quite tempted by it, but it’ll sell for pennies after the games so may be best to wait.

      • It amazes me though that none have come close to that original Decathlon game on PS1, after all these years. It’ll be interesting to read some reviews anyway and then decide……might even drop to bargain prices before the games are over!
        A good rule of thumb I think is to keep it simple, Decathlon events and a few others, but when they try and add around30 events in the games it usually goes pear shaped!!

    • Yeah, the Store price for the R&C trilogy was hard to refuse.. pity the download figures aren’t included.

    • I remember buying one for the PS2 shortly after the console’s launch. That was awesome, though I lost count how many controllers me and my mates went through lol.
      It was mainly because of the swimming; you had to push L1+R1 together to swim and a very effective method was flipping the controller over and bashing the top of it on your leg…. dumb idea in hindsight lol

      • Haha, X and O button for me on the PS1 Track and Field game……in the frenzy of bashing like hell, you had to time an R1 button press and release for angle on jump events. Brilliantly competitive local co-op.

      • Best technique I found for the X+O rounds were to rest the controller on your leg and then put your hand under your shirt. The reduced friction meant you could rub across both buttons really quickly. Lol, good times.

  8. I contributed to that 121% for Skyrim. I actually think it looks better on Playstation after comparing the two. Strange because a lot of people have said its better on 360. Waiting a month for Dawguard doesn’t bother me in the slightest, because although its out earlier on the XBOX, I can get a indeapth review of it before I purchase it for PS3 and still get it on release day. Double win.

    If it was in the Batman: Arkham series, it’d be understandable, but come on! Lego?

    DC seem to be an attractive buy for customers I guess…

    • Have you played Lego BM2? It’s really well put together and personally my fave Superhero game (aside from Infamous 2)

      • Good point, I’m afraid I haven’t played Lego Batman2, but I have played inFamous 2, and I love it!
        But I’ve also played LEGO Harry Potter Years 1-4, and that was pretty darn epic too, but come on? Amazing SpiderMan?
        How did it beat that, is probably what I’m going to be wondering for perhaps the rest of today.

    • Do you actually reckon it would make that much of a difference though?

      I agree that the whole spectrum should be captured for a fuller picture, but i really don’t think that downloads would have that much of an effect as yet.

      Unless you are talking about PC downloads, which of course would dominate the entire chart no doubt.
