Podcast: Episode 70 – Empire: Total War, SongPop and Jurassic Shark

Kev was absent from this week’s podcast. We forget to mention that fact until we’re almost finished, probably due to the excitement of The Sopranos featuring in our-pre-record chat. You don’t get to hear that (thank goodness) but you do get to hear us talk about some news.

We chat about Ouya and what they’re trying to do with a cheap, Android based console – as well as raising the question of whether they can afford to do it. Then we touch on some potentially bad news about the games market shrinking since this time last year before we raise the mood again with the Metal Gear Solid 4 trophy announcement.

This week, I’d been playing Empire: Total War a lot, Kris has played Tiny Wings and Lewis has been enjoying Song Pop. Lewis watched Aron Sorkin’s latest TV show, Newsroom, and tells us a little bit about the first episode’s mix of reality and fiction. We also talk a little bit about Dyad before we head into an excellent quiz that Lewis was brilliant at and our questions.

  • You can also tag your questions on Twitter with #tsacast and, provided you’re not on a private account, we’ll see them in our search each week. Finally, as usual, there’s a questions thread in the forum.

This podcast features strong language, jokes in poor taste and adult themes, if you’re offended by that then we recommend that you don’t listen to it at all.

  • As usual, you can grab the MP3 file here (right click to download).
  • You might want to get it (when the RSS catches us) on the RSS feed, here.
  • Or we’re on iTunes, when iTunes feels like updating. You can also leave us a review and subscribe there, if you want to be particularly lovely.

  1. My flat mate gets freaked out by stuff happening to eyes. He had to leave the room while I was listening to this. Well done.

  2. there’s one problem i have with Jehuty, that’s that big cockpit, emphasis on the first syllable, far too phallic for my liking.

i don’t know about the rock playing Kratos, but apparently he is going to be playing lobo.
at least that’s the plan anyway.

if they don’t turn it into some kiddie film, that could be freaking awesome.

i remember Guy Ritchie was attached to direct it at one point but he pulled out so he could make the second Sherlock movie.

i’ve not read much of Calvin and Hobbes, though i have been reading some early Peanuts stuff, i got hardcover books of the first few years, like 1950 to 54
it’s like 60 years old, but it still made me laugh out loud.

i’m glad you’re not tracking your users to closely, you wont see what porn sites i visit.

uh, i mean what purveyors or filth some other degenerates on this site might visit. ^_^

    yeah, that sounds plausible.

    and bad movies?
    you ever seen The Room?
that thing is infamous, never watched it all myself, but i’ve seen quite a few reviews, the nostalgia critic review was pretty entertaining.
and everybody’s seen the “tearing me apart” and rooftop scenes right?

    Cheers guys.

  4. I shall be sending a copy of this podcast to Dignitas in Swiitzerland.

Im 52 minutes in and so far the topics have been : Jay Z, a lengthy discussion on the investment model and development kits for a console which, by your own admission on the podcast, no one is interested in. More discussion about developing Facebook games and then ten minutes on American politics.

I have sent a copy of the audio to Dignatas, I’m sure it will finish off some of their clients.
