Gearbox marketing vice president, Steve Gibson, has been speaking to Gamerzines and revealed that players will not be able to rush through Borderlands 2.
“What we like to think about it is, Borderlands is a hobby. Some guide guys just did a play through of Borderlands 2 and they reported back to us that it takes 58 hours to play through the campaign – and that’s just one play through with one character,” Steve said.
“So the depth with which people can get into that…Yeah we look at it as a hobby, and that isn’t even counting the new Badass Points system and how that’ll affect every character you do. We want it to feel like you get more for your money, we’re happy for people to pay their money once and feel that they get ongoing value.”
Borderlands 2 is out in September, we’ve played it and it’s rather good.

58 x 4 = 232 / 2 hours a day …thats 116 of play. Yep. Ill go for that!
Jakster123x
That’s rather lengthy
Forrest_01
Crikey – Take that all you people that moan about 6hr campaigns!!!
bmg_123
Now the question…Assassin’s creed 3, liberation, or this?!
Forrest_01
All. :)
bmg_123
I don’t have that much money…and I’ve got an expedition to Uzbekistan next year to pay for :( Quite frankly I’d rather do that than get all the games!
uncleniccius
I’m buying both, but that is because I’m addicted to buying games at the moment. If Beyond or The Last Of Us launch during my exams, I am screwed! ;)
uncleniccius
Go for this. Assassins Creed 3 isn’t nearly as long, and the coop on this will be fantastic. Buy AC3 when you have the money, and it has dropped in price… simple.
bmg_123
Ok, will do! I’m sure I’ll manage to let my desire for Assassin’s creed screw this up yet though…
Sympozium
Be warned, it won’t be like Brotherhood or Revelations, I’m sure it’ll be longer, maybe even more than 2.
SH Number 7/Mini-Lipscombe
Pretty sure they said AC3 will be really long, pretty sure they said something like 50hrs as well.
Dr_mohannad
I don’t know anything about this game except that I like what i’m seeing from the trailers, but how does it play?
Forrest_01
The first one is awesome & can be picked up for not much more than pennies these days. I would highly recommend it personally, but it depends on whether you like your FPS with a bit of an RPG vibe & a lot of looting or not.
I actually liked it a lot more than i was initially expecting to.
tonycawley
As far as I’m concerned after having played quite a bit of the original in coop with my brother, thats 58 hours of utter boredom.
Crazy_Del
I agree 58 hrs of shooting and looting and even worse a repetitive side missions? I think it’s far too much. Happy with half that though! Man that will make my other games piling up for more backlogs =(
Bodachi
I got bored pretty early on in Borderlands. Probably won’t get Borderlands 2 unless it comes to Vita.
Roynaldo
it wont.
Bodachi
Then I wont buy it.
An-dz
day after its out headlines “Someone beats borderlands 2 in 4 hours”
MadBoJangles
Lol I was thinking this too :P
justboy
But does that include a 2nd play through like the first one?
KeRaSh
I’m pretty sure. You won’t hit max level in one playthrough. Maybe that’s where the points system that they mentioned comes into play.
KeRaSh
Already got this bad boy on preorder. If they support this game even remotely like the original one I’ll be one happy bunny. Loved the DLCs. Can’t wait for this to come out.
