Sony Set To Unveil New Games At Gamescom

We’ve got all our gamescom appointments locked and loaded for Sony stuff this year, the schedules came through last week and it’s all quite busy for the publisher. That said, it appears one European site is offering up some snippets of info, so it’s perhaps worthy of discussion.

Playfront is stating that Sony will present at least two “new and previously unannounced titles” at the show, with the site also claiming that Quantic Dream’s Beyond: Two Souls will be absent.

The list of games that we’ll be taking a look at are:

  • PlayStation All-Stars: Battle Royale
  • Call of Duty Declassified
  • Assassin’s Creed III
  • Soul Sacrifice
  • The Unfinished Swan
  • Dust 514
  • The Last of Us
  • Wonderbook: Book of Spells
  • And something about LittleBigPlanet 2

Whilst Sony’s press conference is obviously tightly underwraps, invites that TSA has signed up for do suggest that there might be some truth to what Playfront are reporting. What those games are is a secret – we don’t know names or platforms, for example – and perhaps that’s for the best.

After all, what’s a show when it’s all been leaked beforehand?

  1. Glad to see Ubisoft haven’t dropped support for Assassin’s creed 2 ;)

    • I’m looking forward to it. Hopefully it looks as good as 3

  2. Looking forward to seeing more of The Unfinished Swan and Soul Sacrifice :) Would be a big surprise if two new games were announced.

  3. Breaking news, games due to be annonced at major gaming event.
In other news the queen will be on TV again this year.

    • bizarre attitude.

      • I can see Jas-n’s justified cynicism (a bit) but there’ll be two new titles that haven’t been announced as of yet so that’s something to genuinely look forward to even if we have the rest of the year pegged with details we already know.

For me, the funniest line is “After all, what’s a show when it’s all been leaked beforehand?” when the entire internet (esp. media outlets) are voraciously scouring for the tiniest bit of news/patent leaks/URL registration just to report on half-substantiated rumours. I also appreciate TSA are probably one of the best for not being twunty about it all but it still screws the surprises that we were once used to.

I truly recall a time when surprises were that. Now, they’re just confirmations of months worth of speculation and circumstantial evidence. The internet: Awesome and not so awesome all at the same time. :-)

  4. Come on Sony, give me a forever rumoured Syphon Filter or a new PS3 Everybody’s Golf. Some brand new information to prove that The Last Guardian is still coming out would go down a treat too.

Or give me Vita versions of Ico and Dead Space.

  5. Probably a long shot but i really hope MGS5 is offically announced and tis either a Big Boss game or is about Raiden’s rise to the Cybrog heel wearing ninja.

LBP2 is going to be interesting. Oh and i really hope that they annouce that SCEE has been “taken care” of and that they will restructure them so that we get a decent service from them. :) Hmm, i wonder if KB will make an appearance as he seems to have semi retired judging from the lack of KB ads. :(

  6. Looks a bit dull on the game front in all honesty. Hope the two secret games are interesting.

  7. Wonderbook? I think we’ve seen enough of that tbh.

LBP2 stuff might be the Vita cross play.

I’m not a big CoD fan, but it’s about time they showed off Declassified.

  8. The PS3 seems well set up for next year, I reckon at least one of those 2 games will be on Vita.

  9. All i would like to see a PS3 price cut really at GamesCom + 99% of the PS3 Exclusives i have seen so far i want, so i am happy:P

    • I’ll gift a code for Disney Princess LBP dlc, kay? ;) its exclusive.

  10. If all they do is announce a couple of new Battle Royale characters, I’ll be happy :P
