Podcast: Episode 72 – The Dark Knight Rises and PES 2013

Look, we tried to avoid spoilers as much as we could. But it’s impossible so there are very mild spoilers for The Dark Knight Rises throughout this podcast. There is also a section you’re going to want to skip if you’re avoiding big spoilers but that will be obvious to you.

We went on for far longer than intended about The Dark Knight Rises so we had to skip over a few things we had lined up to talk about. The result is a podcast which is probably half made up with talk of Batman. This is what happens when Kev goes away for a couple of weeks and isn’t there to tell us to stop talking and move on.

After the Batman talk, we moved on – but not too far – to discuss the trailers for The Man of Steel. Superman’s new outing has got us a little more excited than some of us expected.

With all this talk of superheroics, we didn’t have much time to discuss anything else but we did squeeze in some talk about PES 2013 before our usual quiz and questions.

This podcast features strong language, jokes in poor taste and adult themes, if you’re offended by that then we recommend that you don’t listen to it at all.

  1. The Dark Knight Returns? :-P

    • hahaha, shut up, I’ve been busy all day!

      • Break it up you two or do i have to shove a batarang up where the sun doesn’t shine again? :p

  2. So glad I’ve seen the movie so I don’t have to avoid the podcast.

    • I’m so glad I’ve seen the movie as its probably the best film I’ve ever seen, and I’ve watched A LOT of films! ;)

      • Obviously not good ones.

      • Of course, you would know exactly what films I’ve seen. So what’s the best film you’ve seen?

      • Well at quick glance at my blu-ray collection reveals: Moon, Heartless, We Need To Talk About Kevin, The Devils Double, Children Of Men, Apocalypse No1, 2001, Let The Right One In and Alien/s for a start.

Oh and the previous Batman film which, unlike the current one, had Batman in it.

      • Well considering I don’t watch decent films, apparently, I too have Let The Right One In (assuming that’s the Swedish one, and not the American carbon copy which pretty much copied the original scene-for-scene). Moon was interesting. I didn’t think much of Children of Men, Michael Caine’s pot-smoking cheapened that, who I also happen to think is one of the few weak points in the Batman films. Perhaps I’m just a Nolan fan, not enjoyed a film as much as the latest Batman installment since I saw The Prestige.

      • Everyone of my friends have said its fantastic, so im off to see the film this week hopefully :)
I’ve also watched a lot of films in my day, watch one every night nearly and I would have to say the latest Nolan films have been far the most enjoyable films I’ve watched it a long time. The Dark Knight and Inception were great, the latter being my favourite film (for the idea alone). I’m a big Alien fan as well, but I dont regard any of the films including Prometheus to be that good. So i’m with Youles on this one :P

      • Let me know what you think OK, you’ll defo enjoy it! I saw it in IMAX which was pretty cool, haven’t left the cinema being blown away by a film like that ever. I watched Batman Begins this evening just cos it left such a lasting impression and I needed a Batman fix. Yeah I agree, Nolan is great – he and Wes Anderson are probably my favourite Directors.

  3. i don’t think Johnathon Kent dying was part of the comic universe for most of the history of Superman.
it was only a few years ago they killed him in the comics.
    as far as i know.

have they introduced the Kents in the new 52 Superman books yet?

i’m only reading the reprints we get here and i don’t think they’ve featured yet.
though i have read the issue where he gets his outfit, to replace the jeans and tshirt he was wearing, which had pretty much fallen to pieces after running fast enough to launch himself off a ramp into orbit, because he couldn’t fly at that point.
    that was pretty damn cool.

    • i didn’t listen to all the podcast last time, i finished today.

      got to the quiz.

      about question 9.
      996 billion people?
      you sure about that figure?

i got the Nolan films question wrong, i was only one out though, i forgot about Memento, it’s the only film of his i haven’t seen.

i only remembered the football team name because some extra brought their own letter r for the fan sign and made it look like the r from the Robin comics.

in the end i got five right.

i’ve been enjoying the Olympics so far.
seeing the British women beat Brazil was a high point. ^_^

one game character that i became attached to was my noble six from reach.
i didn’t really realise until the end where i was nearly in tears when she died.
after battling through ever increasing hordes of Covenant in the finale, until they finally overwhelmed her, but even then, she never stopped fighting.
