Podcast: Episode 74 – Sleeping Dogs, Ted and Half Life 2

This week, in addition to having the full compliment of podcast regulars, we’re joined by a special guest. Peter Willington, Handheld editor over at Pocket Gamer, freelancer and kisser of Justin Beiber joined us to talk about… well, it’s best just to listen really.

We had a good chat about Gamescom, in particular what Sony did and where the Vita is heading. Then I talked a bit about Sleeping Dogs and Peter told us about the best sports game ever made before Kris finally spoke about Half Life 2, having played it this week for the first time.

We spent a little bit too long telling funny stories so we skipped a few subjects but we did have time to hear about Ted from Lewis and Rock of Ages from Kev. Then we had a disastrous quiz and some of our usual community-supplied questions before wrapping up the show.

  • You can send questions via email to podcasts[at]thesixthaxis.com.
  • You can also tag your questions on Twitter with #tsacast and, provided you’re not on a private account, we’ll see them in our search each week. Finally, as usual, there’s a questions thread in the forum.

This podcast features strong language, jokes in poor taste and adult themes, if you’re offended by that then we recommend that you don’t listen to it at all.

  • As usual, you can grab the MP3 file here (right click to download).
  • You might want to get it (when the RSS catches us) on the RSS feed, here.
  • Or we’re on iTunes, when iTunes feels like updating. You can also leave us a review and subscribe there, if you want to be particularly lovely.

  1. but with playstation plus they also have to get people to keep subscribing, it’s not like they get a flat fee and that’s it.
they want people to keep paying for it.

as a current plus subscriber, i’m happy with what they’re doing with the service.

i got 6 on the quiz, i said GTA IV for question 10 as well.
    so i win. ^_^

i think Peter number 2 should get the point for Tomb Raider Anniversary, it is basically a remake of the original and Natla is still the villain.

i’ve never been able to figure out why they think chocolate with more air and less chocolate is better, because that’s all the bubbles are in so called bubbly chocolate is.
    air that isn’t even chocolate.
i know why they’re better for them, but what do we get out of it?

the one in rome is definitely Brotherhood, i’m playing through it right now, well, not this very second because i’m listening to the podcast and typing this.

i think an mmo world would be cool to go to, where you never really die, when you get killed you just respawn back in a local city or something.

i’ve got a few different versions of the original Tomb Raider.

the original Saturn version, because that’s where it came out first, the ps1 version and even the Ngage one, it was the reason i got an Ngage.

in my defense i was unaware you’d already talked about the gaymercon when i wrote the question. ^_^

  2. If you want to go to Rome after playing assassins creed you’ll be glad to know a fair chunk of the buildings and ruins are the same as in the game. I managed to find my way from one church to another from remembering where I had to go in the game.

  3. Not sure I’ve ever thought about getting Pajspaj in anyone’s hair before, brilliant!

Also next time I’m asking everyone other than Kev for iPad recommendations to minimise favouritism.
