Gearbox Finalises Its Fifth Character For Borderlands 2

Alongside its bazillion-strong arsenal of weaponry and strangely fitting sense of humour, the original Borderlands was praised for a string of solid downloadable expansions that followed its 2009 launch.

Developer Gearbox Software has already outlined plans for additional content in regards to next week’s loot-shooting sequel. Instead of leading players into new areas or giving them even more toys to play with, Borderlands 2’s Mechromancer DLC goes against the series’ traditional, giving users access to a fifth playable character.

Somewhat mimicking the hunter/summoner/engineer classes we often see crop up in RPGs, Gaige (the Mechromancer) relies mainly on her robotic companion to keep her alive. From the sidelines she will support her scrapyard behemoth as it draws away aggro and essentially takes the majority of incoming damage.

The Mechromancer expansion will on October 16th for $9.99/£7.99/800 MS Points. Those who purchased the game via select retailers will get the DLC for free.

  1. 2009! i feel old now

  2. Kind of expensive for only 1 new class. They should have added a new area that can incorporate her back story and style. Knowing the costs now really makes me happy I pre-ordered from a selected retailer

  3. Glad I pre ordered the premier club edition. I’ll probably still pick up their pass so I can get the rest of the Dlc bundles as they come out

  4. Bloody hell that’s a lot for just a character.

    • I’d normally agree, although we’re not talking your typical character skin type deal. The different character classes will hopefully be what makes the game great.

  5. It’s free with the pre-order bonus bundle. Looking forward to giving it a whirl next month.
