PR Company Threatens Kittens With Death

Reverb Publishing have come under fire after issuing a press release that linked the health of kittens to the chance of their game winning approval on Steam Greenlight.

If their game gained approval then Reverb would donate $5000  to the Humane Society to help homeless kittens. If they did not receive approval on Steam Greenlight, “that money will disappear, like a puff of smoke in the uncaring wind, leaving poor kitties to survive in the harsh elements, be placed in harm’s way and possibly scheduled for euthanasia.”

The company has now apologised for its ‘non-tradiational’ approach to PR and has confirmed the kittehs will be receiving $5000 whether the game, Edge Of Space, makes Steam or not.

  1. Reverb’s emails tend to go straight into my spam folder. Funny, that.

  2. They should’ve offered a fixed donation and doubled it if they hit a threshold. Also, go with an “or else!” instead of “else I dies”. That might’ve felt a lot better on the ol’ noggin’ when reading that for the first time.

However, the fact that they’re even donating is bloody lovely. We need kittens alive for future lolcat endeavours.

  3. Wow, did they not see anything wrong with that? Guilt tripping people into voting for their game? That really is a new low!

  4. Threatening to not donate if you can’t get your game greenlight. It’s not like this will result in people not wanting to have anything to do with you due to you trying to guilt trip people into helping you. Oh wait.. Why not promise to donate a set amount then double it or triple it when the game is greenlighted? That way, you will come off in a more positive way and more likely to get your game greenlighted. Besides, threats to kill kittens and puppies are my domain. Now, give me a pack of wine gums and jelly babies or they will die. *is reported and arrested*
