Resident Evil 6’s Average User Score On Metacritic Is 0.4

One again the hive mind of the Internet has proven to be – there’s no point beating about the bush here – a huge twat.

Resident Evil 6 has 2,484 user ratings on Metacritic and currently has a score of just 0.4.

Metacritic do not post a table of the lowest user scores but I would guess that very few games have rated as badly as this over the years.

Obviously the score is ridiculous, as are many of the comments. ‘It look like a PSP game ported to HD console’ claims ‘blabla33’ whilst ‘Rick_Donkulous’ offers these sage words, ‘Crapcom totally shat the bed with this turkey.’

It appears a lot of the people registering a score have not played the game and are laying in to Capcom for turning a survival horror game into a shooter.

Capcom will be upset by the reaction but it would be interesting to find out what is happening over at EA, specifically at Visceral and Dead Space 3.

I wonder if they are paying attention?

  1. I don’t use metacritic anymore, haven’t for ages. TSA reviews and podcasts however do. Thanks Peter, Kris, Lewis and Kev, you’ve cost me a fortune.

  2. For me,Code Veronica was the last Resi game i really enjoyed. 3 done my head in with that Nemesis dude popping up all the time and while i can appreciate 4 and fully believe it deserves all the praise it received,it just wasn’t my cup of tea.

Think i got about half way through and gave up. 1 because i am rubbish at games and 2 it just didn’t feel like a Resi game anymore. I appreciate that games have to evolve or

    • I completely agree, although i did enjoy 3 as well. When Resi 4 came out, while i appreciate it was an amazing game, it just didn’t appeal to me. Mainly because i had grown up with the Resi franchise, and for it to change so much was a bit of a shock, especially when i was expecting more of the awesome survival horror.

To me, starting from Resi 4, the franchise has been moving away from the ‘horror’ part and more to the ‘survival’. Which wasn’t the reason i enjoyed the originals! I love the scares and sudden shocks, like the dogs first breaking through the windows in Resi 1.

So yeah, i know i won’t enjoy Resi 6, although it’s arriving in a couple of days so i’ll see what it’s like, But i know i can safely say that it does not deserve a 0.4 score!!

  3. Code Veronica was the last Resi game i enjoyed. I hated 3 due to that annoying Nemesis dude popping up all the time.

While i fully agree with all the adulation that 4 received i got about half way and gave up as it just didn’t feel like a Resi game anymore. I fully appreciate that games half to evolve before they begin to stagnate i would happily most games i enjoy just stayed the same gameplay wise but moved to a different scenario.

I only own 5 and 6 because i like the steelbooks but I’ll probably never even start them.

Dead Space took over the mantle for me but I’ve yet to play the 2nd one and the 3rd looks really unappealing so far from what I’ve seen of it.

  4. Yes, its obviously not a good measure of the actual game quality. However I do think it speaks to many people’s disappointment and therefore shouldn’t be discounted.

    • agreed. people will always bitch about something, but when everyone is bitching about the same thing one should take notice.

  5. As a huge Resident Evil fan who still owns RE 1, 2, 3 (PS1) Code Veronica X and Resident Evil 4 (PS2)Shame to say I still own RE5 (PS3) but the co-op was fun from what I remember although it was mostly a shooter rather than survival. After playing all the scenarios in the RE6 Demo it did not appeal to me at all. I was excited for the Leon scenario and hoping the gameplay would be back to the same roots but for some odd reason it just doesn’t give me the urge to buy it. However I did play it on co op with a friend and we have decided to bargain bin it perhaps after Christmas. I feel Capcom has lost the plot of Resident Evil and the franchise is dead to me but I will always remember/play the first 3 Resident Evil PS1 games. These games were the survival horror genre.

  6. Oh wow, talking about people jumping on the bandwagon!

  7. No smoke without fire

  8. Dead Space 3 and DmC are going to bomb even harder than this.

  9. guess it is just a waste of time going to that site.

  10. When I heard Resi 6 was going to focus more on shooting I was excited, loving shooters and zombies I thought that it was a natural evolution for the series. I then played the demo, after that I was severely disappointed. The shooting mechanics aren’t up to par for a 3rd person shooter IMO, I noticed theree were times I couldn’t aim where I wanted to because the cross hairs would jump, the accuracy of the pistol was dodgy, and it seemed like the kick attack was the most lethal and useful of any attack. There was a point where I took cover and I thought WTF, they’re zombies why do I need to take cover. This was going to be a day 1 buy for me, but after playing the demo for this it’s going into the rental column. While no game deserves a 0.4 rating, this game has managed to do the one thing a long running franchise should never do… piss off their current fanbase.
