Jonnathan Lander, executive producer for EVE Online at CCP, has been interviewed by GamesIndustry.Biz and has said that PlayStation exclusive Dust 514 has a “five-year roadmap.”
Asked if the game would live beyond the current cycle of consoles he said,
We’re working really, really hard with Sony right now on PlayStation 3 and just shipping the game on PlayStation 3, that’s where 100 per cent of our focus is. But our intention is this game will continue to run and operate for many, many years.
“Our plan is that we want in another ten years to be having ‘EVE is 20’ and ‘Dust is 10’ [events]”
As the PS3 is in its golden years, this presumably means that Dust 514 will continue on PC or PlayStation 4.

Hopefully the Ps4 will be fully backwards compatible with PS3 content, then perhaps all they’ll have to do is release an update for the next gen stuff.

Doubt very much the PS4 is going to be backwards compatible – why dya think they bought Gaikai?

To offer a gaming streaming service for those fortunate enough to have fast internet. It will also work well with hardware models with very small to no harddrives and can therefore help push the cheaper models.

I couldn’t agree less. So my digital copy of Dust or any other digital game will not be backwards compatible on PS4? I doubt that TC. I agree that the hard copy BluRays probably won’t be but i’m hoping to see my digital download queue in the PS store on the PS4.

I see, good call TC, streaming current & past gen games to (potentially) PS4 & other hardware.
Must actually try Dust out, keep meaning to but other games get in the way :(
