The iOS remake of the BANNED! car racing dice-em-up Carmageddon has launched today, and with a very limited free period as, say the makers, a “thank you” to their Kickstarter Backers.
“Carmageddon features real-world environments that have been turned into killing fields,” says the blurb, “where the locals stay out on the streets at their peril.”
“As well as using your car as a weapon, every level is sprinkled generously with power-ups that have a vast variety of mad effects, adding a whole extra level of craziness to the proceedings.”
A quick playtest suggests a faithful recreation, but perhaps one that hasn’t aged terribly well. You can see for yourself by grabbing it for free (albeit in the presence of a 69p car pack) from here.

I used to love this game as a kid. I used to play the 64 version for hours with my brother. There was one multiplayer level that was a theme park ride, and we used to try and ride them without dying. I remember there was a log flume, which was really awesome, but had bombs in the tunnels!
The 64 version had zombies instead of humans though? They were basically just blue. Censoring perhaps?
I would get this, but a) I don’t have an iPhone, and b) I crave buttons :p

Not interested i am afraid – Let me know when you have done a HD version for consoles (so i can actually use those clever inventions called ‘buttons’!) & i’ll be all over it… If the price is right of course. ;)

plays pretty well considering, considering the touch screen i mean.
one problem i did have was steering the wrong way with the buttons being so close.
but one cool feature is that you can go into the options and reposition each button individually, more ios games could use that option.
