Xbox 360 Owners Warned Not To Install Doom 3 BFG Edition

Bethesda’s Global Community Lead Matt Grandstaff, has recommended that Xbox 360 owners do not install Doom 3 BFG edition.

“If you choose to install the game to the Xbox 360 hard drive, you will not be able to launch DOOM or DOOM 2. As there is no performance advantage to installing the game to your hard drive, we recommend not installing the game to avoid this issue.”

Matt was responding to a Tweet from an American gamer who posted the screenshot above.  Why installing Doom 3 stops you playing DOOM 1 and 2 is unclear.

  1. Nowgamer, that name seems familar and in a bad way. :S

Anyway, how on earth did they managed to overlook this gamebreaking glitch? Don’t they bother to install it during testing to see if there are any problems? First, Resident Evil 6 is unplayable if you for some bizarre reason paid £50 for the digital version on PSN then this? If Digital is the future, i’ll give up gaming on consoles due to it being a game of russian roulette or it seems that way.

    • You are thinking of Leadergamer.

      • I’m not thinking of our turkish rippoffs. I think they did make up some news last year. May have been another site with a name that is close to Nowgamer though. O-o

  2. Glad i caught this article as installings something i tend to do without thinking, cheers.

  3. May not be a performance advantage but the DVD spinning is loud!!!!

  4. That sucks. My 360 sounds like it’s taking off whenever I run a non-installed game.

Then again its no worse than Hitman Blood Money I suppose. With that game if you install it to HDD your first target doesn’t load in correctly, meaning you can’t carry on with the game lol.

    • Really??
Wow that’d suck to find out the hard way lol

    • I’m glad i’m not the only one that happens to.I had to slap the top of 360 to try and make the noise stop it’s that loud.
