Our reveal of the teaser for The Last Of US got you talking, but the full thing has been officially released this morning by SCEE after last week’s VGAs, which highlighted the release date – 7th May.
Thankfully, after days of YouTube videos being deleted, Sony have themselves issued the proper trailer, which is below for your entertainment – especially if you’ve not seen it yet.
[drop2]Naughty Dog have also taken the time to show off the new box art – right – and mention some of the pre-order bonuses, which are split into two, depending on the retailer:Sights And Sounds Pack:
- The official soundtrack of the game
- A PS3 dynamic theme featuring the cover art shown here on the right
- Two avatars for your PSN profile – Winter Joel and Winter Ellie
or:
The Survival Pack:
- Or the Survival Pack, which includes:
- Bonus experience points for multiplayer
- A multiplayer melee attack booster
- Some extra starting in-game cash
- Special customizable character items for multiplayer
- Two special bonus skins for Joel and Ellie which will be unlocked after your complete the single player campaign
And yeah, that’s the multiplayer, which has only previously been teased and mentioned off the cuff. Sounds like it’s competitive at least, which is good to hear.
The Last Of Us is expected to be the PS3’s last big first party game, and all of us are hoping it lives up that lofty expectation. We’ll see soon enough in May.

Neither of the packs grab me, a special edition with an art book might though, the concept art we’ve already seen looks really good.

Multiplayer? That sounds like a completely different game, i’ll stick with the soundtrack.

This game looks so damn good. The story looks phenomenal. I’m hoping to get into the games industry, and just in my spare time at home i’ve been constructing my own game story and plot, enough for a good 6 games lol. If they ever come to fruition, I will thank The Last Of Us for helping to leap story/narrative in games so far forward.
