GTA V Delayed, Now Out September

The hugely anticipated Grand Theft Auto V has been delayed. Originally due in the Spring, Rockstar’s widely sought-after open world adventure is now due in September.

“Dear all,” starts the statement from the developers. “Today, we have an official release date to share with you: Grand Theft Auto V will arrive in stores on September 17, 2013.”

“We know this is about four months later than originally planned and we know that this short delay will come as a disappointment to many of you, but, trust us, it will be worth the extra time.”

“GTAV is a massively ambitious and complex game and it simply needs a little more polish to be of the standard we and, more importantly, you require.”

GTA V is our top 5 anticipated game for 2013.

“To all Grand Theft Auto fans, please accept our apologies for the delay, and our promise that the entire team here is working very hard to make the game all it can be.”

“We are doing all we can to help ensure it will meet if not exceed your expectations come September – we thank you for your support and patience.”

There’s no particular reason for the delay other than the “polish” line, but this would put the game squarely in the path of the oncoming next generation of consoles – not a great place to be.

And so the teasing begins anew.

  1. Think this shows Rockstar aren’t worried about the thought of next gen too much to release near the end of the year. The delay doesn’t bother me at all, the next few months are crowded and a more polished GTA is a better GTA.

    • I don’t know many people that are actaully going to be early adopters of the next gen consoles (myself included), so this news doesn’t really bother me at all!

      • You know me and I’ve got my name down for adoption day one I’ve already got a little space planned for him he’s gonna have the Internet and everythin he could need or want bless him. :D

      • Haha! Well maybe if I’m given another bursary next year it will be going towards a new console… oh wait i mean my studies ;)

      • I agree. I’m pretty sure that I’ll be waiting a bit and not rushing out on day 1 to buy the next gen. Most of my friends that game on consoles don’t really seem bothered about it at all.

  2. Next Gen Port time?

  3. Spring is already packed to the limit, so I don’t mind.

  4. I’d rather it be delayed, and as polished as possible, than out on the original date. Who would want to spend good money on a game and have to have day one patches and on going patches to correct it. Remember the Skyrim fiasco?

  5. what have the polish got to do with it?, it surely can’t be their fault!

  6. Hulk sad,Hulk no happy with this news.Puny humans.

  7. So releasing in conjunction with the PS4 then? (wiggles eyebrows)

  8. Nae problem! Better completed than a kneejerk released patchwork quilt!
DO NOT LET THE QA Dept. TAKE ANNUAL LEAVE! :P

  9. Was expecting sooner, but this is a good thing as it means I won’t have to spend so much money at the same timeee.

  10. ouch indeed.
Hope they polish this game to the max, for the silver lining.
